Sounds pretty good to me, possibly because there's more competition in this kind of work in the UK To compair with the nearest place to where I am in France, which is far from the most expensive Lift out/in €350 each time = € 700 Power washing hull = € 140 -------- € 840
on top of that at € 63/h the labour to apply the 3 coats of Intertuff 16 + the anodes that'll cost more than twice the UK price and the price of Intertuff 16. So I guess that it would be more like € 1200 + for the same work here. To save you some money, I would say :"Don't come over to get it done here" Peter.

It's about £100 more than I paid at Sherborne Wharf in June.

Do they do it at a fixed cost ie would a narrow boat be the same as a 22x4m barge. In France I mean.

Just 2 years ago, the previous owner of my boat paid £900 to have it slipped, grit blasted, 2-pac painted and put back in the water. Looks like that was a good price! How it will last is anyone's guess. It was done after previous neglect left a strip of pitted rust along the waterline. The poor thing was less than 10 years old at the time. Midland chandlers sells 4 anodes for just under £100. To remove 4 old and weld on new can't take much more than one hour, probably less, so £150/ hour for a bit of grinding and a few inches of stick welding sounds rude to me.

Same with VNF Navigation Vignette, that I've written about a few times already with the difference in prices for the same surfaces like a 60' narrowboat and a 10m x 3.8m cruiser.
Even with the same surface (which used to be the deciding factor until 2013) the cruiser will have to pay € 282.50 for the year, but the poor (possibly very wealthy) narrowboat owner will have to pay € 646,50 € 364 more than the cruiser, not a good deal.
Peter.

The price of anodes is depending on their weight, I bought mine at Limekiln Chandlers that had (have ?) the best prices I could find at the time.
4 x 1.5kg anodes £ 62 and 4 x 2.5kg anodes £ 90 , I've never been able to find anything coming close to these prices here.
Peter.

They are 2.8kg and surely available elsewhere for less than Midland Chandlers price of £97.50 for 4. Anyhow, the fitting price is a stitch up however you look at it particularly considering as often as not they don't even bother hacking the old ones off.

That's something we agree on completely, I call that a rip-off.

Even as we speak I am in the drydock at Castleford, it has cost £250 for 5 days £45 for the steam cleaner [new and powerful] Keelblack 4 coats about £120 plus 2 hours of my life spraying it on! I dont need anodes as they were done 2 years ago but £100 would have bought 4 x 2.8kg ones and I could have welded them on myself, I had the front deck shotblasted for 50 quid all rust and millscale gone, I zingered it and nonslip blacked it. The thing you are reading is I did these things myself, 2 reasons one I do a better job, two I am a mean Yorkshireman!!
