Hi
Anybody tried replacing double glazed units in their boat. Mine are the typical, aluminium frame ones with double glazed units. I have two where the top openers have gone misty and one with the large unit failed. Looks like the whole thing is held together with pop rivets that can be removed. The units are 8mm total thickness (2x2mm with a 4mm gap). I was wondering if anybody knew what type of sealing tape was used to put them back together.
Thanks

Thanks I've not tried to replace double glazed units in metal frames as my barge in France had wooden frames. However, I was advised to use low modulus silicone sealant as the high modulus stuff (that often smells vinegary as it sets) tends to react with the sealant that is holding the two panes together and will cause it to blow again. I certainly had no problem after I had replaced 5 out of 6 of my windows that had blown using low modulus sealant. I also set the glass into the frames before using the silicone sealant using a sticky sealant tape that I got from the double-glazing replacement people (Huddersfield Plate Glass, www.huddersfieldplateglasscoltd.co.uk) but can't remember if it was called anything special as it just came on a roll from them. Not much help but it's the best I can do from memory. Roger
