Oops ! www.aljazeera.com/news/2018/08/italy-bridge-collapse-state-deterioration-notorious-180816052346000.htmlSo this shagged out old reinforced concrete bridge everyone was moaning about falls down and kills a few dozen people who had the misfortune to be driving across it. Then it turns out it was on a toll road owned by parasites who would rather pay money to themselves and other parasites than concentrate on ensuring the road system is safe. And the other parasites have managed to pull their share price down by 20%. Time to buy some shares? These sort of parasites always seem to come up smelling of roses for some reason. All a bit sad really. Or was it a bomb.

So far they've found 150 bodies in the rubble even though only 50 people are missing. And five headless horses.

New buildings in Finland won't be standing for long as the Estonians slinging them up nick half the materials for building their own retirement homes back in Estonia.
We're looking for a new fridge, seems like Pirkko's old one (unknown age!) has snuffit. I was looking in a shop in Kannus after work today and the salesman asked if I'd like one made in Italy and I said No Thanks. Looks like a Miele might be on the cards, Made in Germany. Bye, bye Mussolini, Hello Mr Hitler.
The Finns have stopped making fridges because they are a lazy lot, and prefer just to have poor quality products made elesewhere and rip other Finns off. Italy isn't the only country run by a Mafia.

Concrete is not what its cracked up to be. I still think the financial gains were more important than lives. Would this have happened with a state operated road or would they have replaced the thing as advised.

ironic that the Italians and the Romans before them were pioneers in concrete and reinforced concrete structures.
seems premature to blame the company responsible for maintenance/inspection.
folk should not be so quick to lay blame.
we are lucky the Severn Bridge didn't fall down - extensive preventive maintenance has now assured that it will live for a few (or many) more decades, albeit with reduced loading.

That's why they are exempt from the ban - along with Singaporeans
