We bought Gorilla Glue for the first time a year ago, from the indoor market in Wigan, and it seems to work reasonably OK but you have to allow for the expansion. And also it failed where I had glued the wooden handle into the tiller arm - this Summer the handle turned round and round again (yes, I know there's a wedge in it but the wedge is always slipping); so I glued it again with Gorilla Glue and we'll wait with baited breath to see how long it lasts. Why they have a picture of Kris on the label is beyond me, though. Should have purchased a tube of Polyurethane sealant.

Funny though If you say so. Yes, I now have a pang of conscience.. I just thought I'd be a 'cheeky monkey' for a moment.

Most people are familiar with expanding PU adhesive which is a clear orange coloured resin that runs everywhere, and does not seem to bond particularly well to most materials. I hate it. There is more than one type of expanding PU wood adhesive. I use one called Lumberjack Wood Adhesive. It's a thixotropic gel so it doesn't drip. It might be called a wood adhesive but it most definitely sticks other materials. When I was making the door frames for Sabina's wheelhouse, I glued them with this glue. To ensure that they were exactly plumb with the steelwork I bolted it in place while the glue set. I didn't varnish them first as I was planning on removing them after the glue set and then treating them. I was a bit generous with the glue and there was quite a bit of leakage. 20 years later I still haven't been able to get them off to varnish the underside ..... I'm just grateful I had already treated the steel.
