Bloody hell that really is taking the piss ! This is how the canal is meant to look? I hope they can at least salvage some of the lock gear from the breach site. Its odd because it seems to be the same level both sides of the breach. There must have been a couple of locks down then two back up to go through a river valley or something.

"It sent fucking thousands of gallons of fucking water gushing along a fucking canal with such fucking force it washed away the fucking banks. Trees were torn from their fucking roots, hundreds of fucking fish died and boats were lifted from their fucking moorings by the mini fucking tsunami." Fucking Hell. And I said I'd stop swearing. There you go. And reported for too many ducklings.

Obvious lack of maintenance, and most importantly, lack of ground staff or lenghthsemen who would have been likely to have picked this up before it got so bad.
I often chat to the asset checkers on the towpath who are frustrated by CRT's lack of action when they report faults. Looking to lay the blame on boat owners is lame, and CRT need to up their game a little. Stating they are short of funding whilst spending millions on personal car cash allowance, and flashy internal award dinners etc suggests they are not as poor as they would like us to believe in my view.
