I don't hold any positions in Tesla but I've been watching it and it looks awfully dodgy.
The CEO Elon Musk said he was looking to do a leveraged buyout in August and that he had backers. This seemed suspiciously like insider trading as it immediately inflated the share price and screwed shor sellers quite badly. Then it turns out he didn't have backing and it will remain a public traded company.
So now the SEC are after him and there is a chance of criminal proceedings as well.
So what will happen?
Obviously the man himself is not as important as the future of personal transport. He's just an individual after all.
Will they bin him and put him in the clink or will he get away with it because what he is doing is useful for the advancement of humans? Or he has friends in high places.

I read that he had Arab backers that when it came down to it backed out. The big car companies and oil barons want him gone though so who knows what will happen

I don't know, but I'm still waiting for data about the pollution caused from the generation of the electricity needed to power a car vs the pollution caused by exhaust fumes.

To be blunt, it is the car fumes in urban areas that are killing children not the power station fumes which are well diluted before getting to the population areas. Long term neither is acceptable, but short term priority must be to clean up the air that people breathe.

By this time next Sunday I will have sent another 400 litres of diesel up into the air. Bit of a laugh as the wind blows towards Russia. They get back in black smoke what they have sold in liquid form.
At least we came by electric train 490km to Helsinki, that must wipe out my 'carbon footprint' somewhat, eh?

This must be the way forward, but in parallel as a society we must also move to cleaner electric power with the cost and inconvenience that entails.

Cleaner electric power is causing considerable disruption on the Midland Mainline while they raise the bridges along the route to get the catenary installed. It puts 5 extra miles on my journey each day Still, an old HST starting up isn't exactly good for your lungs!

At one point in my life I used to do regular 11hr shifts on the platform at Paddington (I always tried to be elsewhere). The black crap that came out of my nose and mouth at the end of a bad day meant you always wondered how much was staying inside you. I bet the platform staff at Paddington are now breathing a sigh of relief.
The other advantage is that the new trains have pump-out loos rather than dump through ones!

All together now. Gentlemen should please refrain from flushing toilets while the train is standing in the station for a while. We encourage contemplation whilst the train is in the station cross your legs and grit your teeth your teeth and smile. If you should wish to pass some water, you should sing out for a porter who will place a basin in the bog .......... etc

Being from a boating background with very little train knowledge I associate the term "dump through" with Sealand pumpout toilets fitted on canal boats. The other common type of pumput toilet being the macerator type with the high power "sling the shit" centrifugal pumps. Tecma etc. I fitted a Lavac toilet on my barge with manual diaphragm pump for which I designed and made a fresh water flushing arrangement and I directed the waste to a small holding tank. Does the term "dump through" in fact originate from railways and a direct "through the bottom" disposal ? Very interesting.

Try standing in a 'place of safety' when someone goes for a runny dump past you at 125mph - names of types of toilet are not likely to be top of your list.

I've proper gone off Teslas after the last few days.. Just been away for a few days with my mate that's just bought one. On the way to the airport, traffic on the M1 meant that we couldn't get to the superchargers at the services, so we ended up parked at Luton with about 30 miles of charge left. Just got home and had to do a detour south from Luton to South Mims services to charge up for an hour before heading back north because the nearest northbound supercharger to Luton is fucking Northampton.. Ended up getting home 3 hrs later than we should have. What a load of bollocks.
