Given what's happened on the Macc etc. this year they should win an award for closedness, if there were such a word.

Tomorrow in The Floater, another example of C&RT 'openness'.
I will be looking at C&RT's reluctance to provide a report into the cause of the Middlewich breach.

Breaches happen, the canal system is old, not necessarily anybody's 'fault'. But CRT are at fault for not getting it fixed pronto, and making a right old dog's dinner out of it. Still, I was thinking this morning, this breach has changed our plans muchly, and in a good way - we've gone round via Penkridge and so got to see the Shroppie South to North as well as instead of just North to South (as is our Christmas plan), and got me thinking about exploring the Staffs & Worcs to Stourport. Our original plan was just to turn East at Autherly Jcn.
It's a fiddle, the whole thing. Contractors and sub-contractors making up lots of reasons why they can keep milking CRT's nipples. An investigation into all of the expenses would be revealing!

Staffs and Worcester down to Stourport is beautiful.
You can drop on the river to Worcester and travel north up Tardebigge, which is a 'must do' for any canal boater.

Done Tardebigge 4 times already (2 times down, 2 times up), and the second time I dun it all alone, 24 locks up afternoon & evening under a moonlit sky, polished off the last 18 next morning 5am-8am. 5 years ago, Oct 2013.
