I thought a unit was a building on an industrial estate? When did caravans become 'vans or units? 'Unit' tends to be used as a 'catch all' term to cover a Caravan with a car a Motrohome or a tent with a car. It's probably an Americanism. Caravans have been known as 'vans' for as long as I have been a caravanner ie at least as far back as 1983 probably way further back than that. As in 'We are towing the 'van to Cornwall', or 'I've left my reading glasses in the 'van' - (which is true I have) I sussed all that. It's all sounds very naff I must say. A van is a thing for putting stuff in, you know, carpets, bricks, traffic wardens, that sort of thing

Many RVers here use Walmart parking lots when all they need is a space for a night or two and don't need facilities. It's free, the lots are level and secure and Walmart welcomes the travelers because they tend to do their shopping there. Over here most supermarkets have a time restriction of about 3 hrs, after which you are charged something ridiculous like £70. I used to occasionally use supermarket car parks when I had my motorhome but it was not on UK registration plates so they didn't know where to send the bill.. I can tell your the sort of man that abuses a Scotsman at the Bar and here we find you with foreign plates to avoid paying

We did and weighed up the pros and cons of both. Cost wise we could have got a Motorhome for the same price as the 'van we have and the car to tow it. A caravan suits us better as we like to 'base' ourselves in an area and go out exploring in the car. You can do that in a MH but it's not as convenient to go exploring in a very large vehicle and its a PITA to nip to the shops for a pint of milk or a bottle of wine. MH's suit others but on balance we settled for a caravan and car.

Can't beat sleeping in our car - cost 0. Shower from hotel/swimming pool/camp site next morning. No kitchen but we have a Trangia which works well - it's a stove which burns meths. Park up anywhere anytime. Heating for chilly mornings? -just run the engine! Nice comfy mattress, quilts, pillows. There's a radio and lights for reading in bed! I always applied a similar philosophy to sleeping in the truck. There are places I would never have been to had I not had that available- Red Square in Moscow, the Blue Mosque in Istanbul, the Carpathian Mountains etc etc etc and although I had to do some work along the way (I use the word "work" loosely here) all the fuel for my motoring holidays was provided and I even got paid £25 a night tax-free for staying in my mini-motorhome.

Foreign registration plates don't help these days - unless they are Russian. An American/British corporation knows who you are and a bill comes from England via Switzerland and your local debt collector. You'll get taken to court in your own country for non-payment. Is that right? I never knew that.

I remember about 20 -25 years ago reading some blurb in the newspaper that Walmart had changed their policy about RVers in their car parks. They realized that the people in the RVs were doing their shopping, buying groceries and such, at the stores where they parked so the stores welcomed them as customers.

LOL just shows how you can get the completely wrong impression about somebody if you just base an opinion on what you see on the internet. FWIW my job annual performance reviews at work and throughout my career consistently referred to my strength as a 'team player' and always willing to help colleagues who were stuck with something and get stuck in to help solve team problems. As for the other stuff I'm honestly not interested in getting into it all again, I've articulated why I voted what I did a few times now both on here and on CWDF and its mater less now any way, the vote is done and we have to live and make the best from the consequences. Why I voted what I did wont make a jot of difference to any of that.

Indeed Martin, just shows how wrong you can be.Like you I wasn't interested in going over Brexit yet again, but was just interested in how you felt post brexit which you have kindly answered. You forget I have been incommunicado and have lost touch a little thanks to an absence from here and Moderation over there so thanks again
