I thought you were joking Stabby. Does anybody actually shell out for these or the various 'barn finds' on ebay.

The seller of this is well known in the vintage bike world. Sells lots of bikes. He prices them at top whack and waits, and waits until somebody bites. There is usually someone that will. 70s Japanese bikes have long been sort after, though I think the bubble is starting to burst. Not enough of us older bikers left I guess.

Perfect for a narrowboat I'd say.

I do like that but it is too light for my cranes.
Modern ebikes make these a bit obselete.
I wonder if it's possible to get that Raleigh road legal.
ETA the last photo seems to show a number plate.

Also, it appears to have roller bearings on the crank but uses the old style of coil which is unavailable...but some people have had success fitting non-standard coils to older Seagulls so who knows.

The coil, if it is of the type where copper was wound and then sealed in shellac as per just about all old British bikes, will by now be garbage.

Actual ‘detail filled’ advert .....For sale in Chorley, which may explain the spelling! 🙄 “Raleigh Wisp 50cc No log book engine runs still on dvla dater base”

They degrade over time whether you use them or not. That it still has a spark is not a definitive test. Still, an engine that isn't seized is a good thing. It reminds me of a Raleigh Shopper with an engine added to it. Or maybe a Raleigh Shopper was the moped sans motor.
