have you considered a TENS machine ? For my ankle? Thought they were just advertised for fat knackers to stick to their bellys and avoid doing any meaningful excercise? How do they work? www.nhs.uk/conditions/transcutaneous-electrical-nerve-stimulation-tens/it seems to help with some conditions ...... might be partly snake oil ...... but enough people swear by it to make it worth a trial

Are you sure it's osteo-wotsit and not that those screws have just gone rusty? How about taking them out and applying some of this?

How about taking them out and applying some of Titanium screws....Non ferrous! π Was going to have them out a few years ago but was advised it would be highly likely Id re-break the fibula unless I had 6 months laid up until the 'screwholes' filled in! π

Yeah - I was only joking. The best answer is to be put down and have your bones sent to the glue factory (after removing the screws, as they can be recycled). But try the old folks' Magic Herbal Cures first

I would go for prosthetics before giving up. They do some seriously good legs these days.
I saw a bloke walking along pretty naturally. Being a <which word to use?> he had deliberately left out the trouser leg on the fake limb. Just to show off the hardware. If he had been wearing ordinary trousers I would not have noticed it. Because of the obvious prosthetic nature of the thing it was impressive.
Anyway I told he was a twat and to wear ordinary trousers for decency. I believe he was an exhibitionist. Very annoying. Two legged exhibitionists are irritating but not half as irritating as the ones with only one real leg.

Looking at those x rays made my legs hurt.
Sorry for your troubles.
I have a bit of knee pain (arthritis) but nothing compared to your troubles.
Hope one of the recommendations helps.

Someone here recently suggested CBE for helping with arthritis. Might be worth trying or researching. I can definitely vouch for glucosamine. I think the winter (cold and damp) doesnβt help. Iβm looking forward to the warmer weather. CBD oil? it seems to work for my dogs and SWMBO, but when I tried it nothing changed.

Good to see all the natural remedies are being tried and seem to work. I carry on with them ..not because I'm old(thanks Bodger) but because I want to progress into twilight years in best possible condition and if that means popping a few vitamins here n there so be it.....

I do know you have to keep taking these things for a few weeks before the effects fully kick in...especially glucosamine. On the other hand maybe they work better on some more than others. Then of course there is the placebo effect. The bottom line is that youβll never know unless you try it.

The TENS thing is sometimes used by women in labour. Apparently it is quite effective.
I have not personally been pregnant but I was present during my woman's labour and the birth of both of my daughters. She (the woman) did not use any pain relief as she has a high pain threshold. This is why she can tolerate me. It did look awfully painful and I suffered horribly.
I'd try the TENS machine it worked for me.

Another vote for Glucosamine, knackered my knees by cycling (raced at national level) but 2 tablets a day allows me to kneel down AND get up again. As for TENS machine, I swear by them, tore a ligament in my back and as it healed it was scar tissue that always wants to tear in the same place. My doctors had them for rent. Phil

TENS have been used for years. they are not to be confused with Slendertone ! I recommend swimming, thermal underwear, mohair socks from Bridgedale, and fish oil capsules.
