This years event has been organised. We have signed up and paid our dues. Last years event had about 8 teams but 15 have already signed up.
We spoke to the chap who supplied last years car and although the fiesta was pretty cool and a winning entry, we had some requests, he is supplying a car with a brand new mot for £100.
Were down a team member points only the two of us so money will be tighter.
The two charities are sparkles again and the Thames valley air ambulance. It is hoped to raise lots more this year. 8k in 2018 which our team raised a quarter off. With thanks to a few members here.
The design, we are going for a Dragon. I had reversations but we discussed it and agreed that if we do it properly and go all in it should be ok.
The car was a little delicate last year so everything this year has to be solid for a faster drive and to take the odd bump.
Plans are, to make a head to go on the bonnet. With lit up eyes. Smoke machine in mouth, I may have to build one myself as 12v ones are expensive.
Big wings to go on roof a pointy spine and a tail, maybe attached to minor motor to make it move.
We have more lights etc and this year I am building a control box for all the lights and for charging radios etc. So its moveable to next years car, to save wiring UK and dismantling every year.
The exterior will hopefully be decorated to make it look like a dragon by some local graffiti artists.
Th plan is to beg borrow and steal this year, I have a few begging letters out, hopefully we can get the steel donated to make everything which will be bolted and/or welded to the car. We are waiting for confirmation from the local motor factor for the electrical stuff, he just has to convince his boss, we hope to have the car covered in stickers from sponsors and supporters this year. Last year everything was rushed but by getting the car now we have more time.
One company is already confirmed they will take the car as soon as we get it and convert the front doors to lambo/scissor doors. Not sure whether to make them wings or legs.
As there is two of us the rear will be converted so we can make teas and cook on the move.
We not sure if we will make it a traditional dragon or a Chinese version.
If any one has any designs, ideas or technical help it will all be gratefully received.
This year as a play on last years name we are team piston still broke and the car well we have a 1994 Vauxhall cavalier. I've not seen it yet, it should be arriving next week.
