Lovely day today, a nice walk with the kids in the forest followed with an ice cream by the pond.
Been home and cut the lawn, sawed a few bushes right down so they can grow sensibly and controlled.
Gaev away a few tomatoe plants to the neighbours and the sunflowers are still growing taller.
Decided to chill in the sunny garden with a beer whilst waiting for my bangers and mash.

It turned out even nicer and one I had done the alcohol run I ended up slapping some paint on the side and going boating again.
One of the Windsor trip boat skippers was annoyed with me as I was keeping up with his speeding.
Quite funny when he waved me to slow down at Bray. He was in a large long trip boat which will move. To be fair Dulcinea does throw up something of a bow wave when going at 5 knots but it was quite ironic.
I think he would have probably have liked to have been helming Dulcinea.
It does have that effect sometimes. Anyway Cookham lock now

My other boy Charlie is up for a few days. We did some more work on the mooring, re-planted the apple tree in a half-barrel oak planter that we bought from B&M in Coventry (even though there isn't a B&M in Coventry).
Put down some artificial grass over a couple of particularly tricky weed-prone edges.
Drove my car to the garage which was interesting, given that it has no footbrake at all. Hoping it will be sorted by the weekend as I need to go to work, paid the CRT mooring permit today which was almost £500, rent to Farmer Don is due soon too. And the insurance.
Charlie had a few rides up and down the lane on the Clockwork Banana. Came back with a big smile on his face. They do say that a moped is like a fat lass, great fun to ride but you wouldn't want your mates to find out. And he's 175 miles from them.
So nothing particularly special but he always says it's just nice to get away for a few days for a change of scenery. Both my boys have always been much closer to me than their Mum, Charlie described her today as "Just someone I live in the same house as" which is a bit sad in a way.
Still, as Magnetman says, worse things happen at sea.

I'm pretty sure they do. The lock keeper who asked me yesterday for a tug ticket made a point of taking a photo of Dulcinea. I don't think it was because he was in awe of the vessel. I think he is annoyed about it and does not believe I have a registration for it. But I do. I am in awe of it !

I put the two Bruce anchors on the front yesterday and she was like "OMG" and I was like "yeah yeah yeah" but I'm not that convinced and nor is Dulcie. Possibility of getting caught in trees Cookham lock innit

I can see why she is worried about hooking up in the shrubbery given your propensity for mooring in the mangrove swamps above Cookham

I can see this lockie attempting to cause you a few issues.
We know a bare knuckle fighter who could sort him out.
Or is he bear knuckle fighter? I cam never remember.

I've got virtually all the lock keepers on the whole River on my side so think we'll be ok.
It's one to watch.
Just about to come out of Marlow now it's getting a bit dark that's where local knowledge helps.
I know I think I know what to do but time will tell !

Interesting boat cruised past Ms Bergs moorings today, was hoping it would of been called ‘Narrow Escape’ but alas, just a simply & aptly named ‘Tuggy’.👍

Anyway the public power out of operation on Temple lock so moored just below on the lock waiting bollards for the night.. Weir a bit loud but worse things happen at sea and the relaxing/sleeping area on Dulcinea is incredibly well soundproofed so probably won't notice it anyway. Was time to stop so not moaning. The other thing with those anchors is I think they might cause problems when ramming enemy vessels. Could disrupt the anchor handling gear a little or even bend the massive fairleads. Might be better to store them in the anchor locker when not in use. You never know when ramming speed and a full impact may be necessary so I think I will probably go back to the old style bow decoration.

We saw two Kingfisher boats today ... Jane asked if there were any points, and when I said no, she said there OUGHT to be ! Opening scoring to the top three or five most popular names would open the game up Mr Stabby ... what do you think ? Rog
