And now for something completely different. In the foreground is a scale model of the Potato Boat that my boy Sam is building. I'll post more pics as the job progresses. Behind it is a Black Prince hireboat which was his first attempt at narrowboat modelling and is pretty good I think. Behind that is a railway coach which he also built. As most of you know, Sam works for Hornby Hobbies and so as well as being a fun project for him, it can only help in moving up the ranks at work.

Get him to do a Josher style narrow boat that would be a winner. It doesn't matter if it looks like the real thing or not.
Are these cut out of Balsa?
I wonder if a 3D printed model narrow boat would be worth looking at or are they a bit long.. Was looking to stock up with armaments and noticed that fake RPG and Mortar rounds are now produced by 3D printing setups.

I wouldn't presume to ask how or why that could be possible, really, poor boy However, it does elude me how on earth replicating a model of the "potato boat" could enhance one's career - or indeed, one's life?

Hmmmn....
A replica of a narrowboat coffin... Suspect a niche market at best.

He's also just finished this really brilliant model of Tony Dunkley's boat.

Well, he works for Hornby Hobbies, who make the model railways but also Scalextric and Corgi models. At the moment he works in the technical support team, but they also have model designers, and making pre-production models is a large part of their job. So it's all good practise.

Raining and wet here in Ireland. And if it wasn't raining it would be just about to rain. π
