Started to cloud over, but pleasantly warm.
Took the masking tape off successfully and quite pleased with the job.
We'll crack on with coach lines now, over the next couple of weeks.
Forecast suggests rain this afternoon ... if we can believe it.

Well another lovely day here. I think I will give the Regatta a miss today as the quality of the attendees is likely to be significantly reduced due to it being a Saturday and warm weather.
There will be a lot of plebs, not to put too fine a point on it.
A better approach is to retreat to a socially distant position in the shade of a tree at the ranch and carry out observations.

I've had a day of good deeds but as you know, no good deed goes unpunished.
Yesterday, rather than head into the marina as planned after lunch, we dropped lucky and ended up in the centre of stone near the Star... opposite a boat we'd shared the Rochdale 9 with back in March! - a quick catch up with them (shouting over the canal) delivered bad news - since we last met, their 36 year old son had died suddenly last month of a heart attack... awful. What can you say?... the bloke was clearly in the mood to talk so we did just that.... across the canal for ages about it.
Anyway - this morning, we said our goodbyes and went out opposite directions. We came into the marina, tied up and plugged in... bliss.
Not long after the washing had finished (and been moved into the dryer) I sat out side to eat my lunch and have brew... noticing a boat moving off a pontoon over the other side near the pub. AS I watched I presumed he was turning around to go in the other way... alas, he wasn't, his engine had cut out in the middle and the wind was blowing him towards the apposing boats. I put on my crocs (what other shoe is needed) and got myself onto the end of the pontoon I figured he'd come to rest on (sideways)... once grabbed, between us, we pulled him into an empty bay. Poor fellow had made a feeble shout of "can someone help me please" and was actually shaking. HE seemed concerned to be on someone else's pontoon so I suggested if he needed to return to his own, we'd happily tie him along side and tow him back across the marina... which we did. Alas, as is typical when I do something in a hurry (in this case taking the tumble dryer vent out of the front and unplugging it) I pulled off the circular clip and lost it down the back of the dryer.
To make matters worse, when we'd gotten back (having delivered him back to his own pontoon ) in order to GET hold of said clip, I needed to remove the tumble dryer... WHICH meant the larder door (with all the spice racks on) AND Freezer door, needed to be removed ffs.
ergo, a 20 min good deed, turned into 2 hours of fecking around to get the dryer operational again lol I'd say I've learned my lesson and will not interfere again - alas, that won't be true as I can't help myself lol
As you were.

I was really greatful when I first went into the marina, the wind caught it and we ended across the ends of pontoons.
But thankfully someone came along and gave me a quicker lesson. 5 minutes later I was perfectly drifting onto our pontoon.
Don't stop helping. It can really help change someone's day.

Well I did take Dulcinea out for a Regatta spin and saw my gentry friend again. He had a diver in to check and one prop is bent the other one is OK and rudder works so he asked if I was available with my fantastic arse to assist with a downriver trip tomorrow just two locks.
Always nice to do some boating.
I think he is probably a Scots clansman out of Eton. They lose the Scottish accent when you put them through Eton.
He has already enquired as to my financing arrangements (giggle).
Funny situation really.
Usually people work out quite quickly that I am not someone to be around much but we'll see. I expect I'll scare him off with too much waffle.

Don't remember if I updated but this is the sunflowers this week. We've cut one head off before it got to heavy and landed in next door. Quite a few people want the seeds so the head is drying out.
