Ah ..u used 'His' washing line.... You'll never be forgiven and he's Welsh..... my son in law is Welsh and he never forgets ... his dad is just the same. Is it a general trait for the Welsh to be petty, or is it just the never forgetting thing? dunno, doubt its just the Welsh, I guess if u live in a small community trivial stuff tends to take on more importance

Renewed my insurance today. They didn't need a survey but they say they will want a full dry survey for next year. But I'll worry about that when I come to it, I could get run over by a bus tomorrow. Or a steam train.

Got down to the boat again last night. Massive tailback on the M6 south of Manchester so we took Mr Waze’s advice and turned off onto the A50. Really impressed with how nice that part of Cheshire is, eg Knutsford a really nice town, so I have to delete my association with the dump of Knutsford M6 services!
Anyway after shopping a late start followed by lunch at the Red Lion Hopwas. Jeff’s parents haven’t really been out for 18 months so it was a treat for them. I had one of the best steak and mushroom baguettes, plus TT Landlord. I must say the Red Lion is much friendlier than the tame otter.
Now moored at Fraggle (Fradley to you) and another pint in the Swan. This is going to be a booze cruise I suspect!
Its a pity the weather is rather autumnal, we come down from aberdeen to get warmth and sun, not a cold wind!

Or a steam train. Or indeed a steam train. But if I'm spared then I don't think I'll be getting a full survey. I might ask them if a condition report will do and if so ask Pete Gilbert if he can do one based on the dry docking earlier this year, he said the steelwork was in fantastic condition and better than a lot of 10-12 year-old boats he has in. If that won't do I suppose I'll just settle for third party insurance, I'm lucky to have got away without a survey for the last two years as Desiree is well over 30 years old.

I've always just done self declaration 3rd party on my boats.
Obviously being fantastically wealthy and with a fantastic arse as a backup I can afford this luxury.

On our way back, sea is like a millpond, I've seen rougher canals. Food hasn't improved in the many years since I've been on one of these boats, pity really. Should have been on tomorrow's ferry managed to blag an earlier one so will be stopping at a campsite tonight rather than the carpark in the docks at Rosslare Weather has been wet over in Ireland hopefully better once we get home.

The heatwave is coming next week. Will go from too cold to too hot.

Had a walk around the village and called at the Admiral Nelson ... excellent pint of Everards Tiger (an impressive choice of five beers).
Not eaten in there for years but may have to give it a go this week.
My vinyl from the Graphic's Boat have arrived already ... pretty good service ... just need to finish the painting now.

Its a pity the weather is rather autumnal, we come down from aberdeen to get warmth and sun, not a cold wind! Blame me! I bought the weather back with me after a 'round Britain' cruise. We had good weather for 4 days, then had Belfast, Ullapool, The Orkneys, Shetland, Scrabster and Invergordon and it was cold, wet and windy most days. It was a Saga cruise, and all inclusive, includung insurance. Picked up in a taxi and returned home likewise, and you can literally spend nothing, but want for nothing for the duration.

Rog We really like the Nelson, long time favourite. Foods not really what it was but still ok. We are just down the way, near Flecknoe and will visit the old olive bush for steaks tomorrow. Not saying what time, or exactly where we are. Have heard that boat thieves operate in this area...

Yes I'm hoping for nice weather as intend to annoy the traditional boat rally varnish brigade at Henley weekend after next and will have my lovely children with me so sun would definitely be welcomed. Do like this weather while alone on boat as it is an idiot filter but sun is good if I have company aboard.

Well Yesterday was another lovely day with gran and child. Great fun and the kid has really come out of his shell now... I still don't like kids but this one is SO well mannered and intelligent it's refreshing.
He DID have a screaming night terror about half 9 last night but that is common apparently. It's ok - we have ear plugs!
They leave after breakfast and then we'll do a turn around on shoreline (marina 1 night) and set off to Atherstone to pick up the next lady.
Fire has been lit 3 days in a row now.

Fire lit ... still I suppose with paying guests you have to quaysider ... glad the trip's gone well (and you didn't need the sheet). It's not been lower than 17/18 degrees when we've got up in a morning so far, so no fire yet ... I did dig the chimney out, but not put it on yet. Actually I may do that this morning. Well we're in position where we have to be for our solar installation, and have to stay now until next Tuesday ... I hate being in one place more than a couple of days so it could be a frustrating week ... we'll have to go off walking. Sunny morning but cooler out ... longs and a t shirt this morning. Rog

Dull and overcast in West Wales this morning, looks like it will brighten up later but we will be gone. 250 miles towing the tin tent and we will be home, then the weather will improve😱 Can't understand this lighting the fire, not had the heating on at all in the van, not even sure if it works must check that before the next trip in September.
