Overcast in Warwickshire too. Getting a bit bored now, will make a few phone calls later and see if I can sort out some Yorkie-munching for next week. If nothing takes my fancy I might just motor down to Hillmorton for a few days next week for a change of scenery.

Dull and damp in Barmouth for the third consecutive day. No proper rain, just drizzle from time to time. Fairly stiff north westerly coming in. Strong enough to prevent kayaking operations. I've learned that over 10mph makes the sea too lumpy for comfort/ safety. Upstream of the railway bridge, which should in theory be more sheltered, is worse, the wind is funneled and creates a very nasty short chop. Never mind, I'll dig some lugworms at low tide, try for a bass or two this evening.

Fire lit ... still I suppose with paying guests you have to quaysider ... glad the trip's gone well (and you didn't need the sheet). It's not been lower than 17/18 degrees when we've got up in a morning so far, so no fire yet ... I did dig the chimney out, but not put it on yet. Actually I may do that this morning. Well we're in position where we have to be for our solar installation, and have to stay now until next Tuesday ... I hate being in one place more than a couple of days so it could be a frustrating week ... we'll have to go off walking. Sunny morning but cooler out ... longs and a t shirt this morning. Rog I refuse to go back to long trousers before October! As for fire...well, I thought you guys were northerners? How come the solar installation is taking that long Roger?

It isn't ... it'll take a few hours next Tuesday morning @ianali
But the panel will be delivered to this road bridge, so we need to be moored close to it ... 14 day moorings so we have to get a space whilst we can and wait.
Would have been easier to arrange it back in the yard over winter ... but we want to see what difference it makes now, so delivery to a bridge it is and we get a month of use before heading home.

One of my spiders has caught a small bee.
Interesting to watch it's just by one of the windows so can helm boat and watch it.
Half an hour so far. A bit breezy and Spidey has a low risk approach.
It's a really good spectator sport actually.

Dulcinea does get annoyed at me but I can't help making eyes at other boats now and then. This one I really do like. Would look ok alongside when at the ranch. Salters of Oxford own it. 6 pot in there apparently despite its diminutive size.

Spent the morning taking apart the gang plank ladder that was brought for me from Midland chandlers. Works as a plank, decent design but is made of crap steel, crap screws and crap tube end caps. Oh and crappy paint thatβs fell off. Apart from that I quite like it π. Cleaned it up, sealed the ends and changed the screws. Hopefully it wonβt collect water and leave rust streaks along my roof anymore.

Walk up the prehistoric grave site, over the hill and down to the beach before a wander back beside the stream. Stop for coffee and cinnamon danish before home. Lovely morning Just checked car tyres, oil and water in preparation for relocation to Brum. Think all now sorted....

The sea crabs are a nuisance though, competing with the sea bass for food. There are some big sea spider crabs around, that the sea fishermen sometimes target on their sea boats.

Anyway no lugworms for me. The only spot you can get them around here involves scrambling down a cliff to the estuary below. There's a sign 'private property' which I've always ignored but the sign has been reinforced by the introduction of two land horses, one of which looks quite mean. I know it's not logical but I'm scared of land horses. So that's me fooked for lugworms. I suppose I could go by kayak but it would be a bit of a bastard to work out, with the sea tides etc.
