What news on the inverter Mr Stabby ? Another big August bill ? Rog Up bright and early, took the cover off. Fuse ok. Checked for input current, none found. Started checking back down the circuit. No power found at the inverter isolator switch output, but 12v at the input. Shorted out the terminals with a spanner, inverter started working. Took the isolator switch off, tested for resistance, multimeter reading "Infinite" in both on and off positions. Buggered off to Halfords in Rugby and bought a new one, £12. Fitted and all sorted now. I guess the old one was on its last legs and the overload finished it off. On the way back into the farm, Farmer Don was out on his ride-on mower. I stopped and said "My mooring fees are due at the end of the month, how much is it this year?" and he said "Same as last year" which I knew he was going to say because he says that every year. This is my seventh year coming up, it was £312.50 when I rocked up in 2015 and it's still £312.50 now. Keeping fingers crossed Jo passes her motorcycle test this week (She's failed Mod 1 twice so third time lucky maybe) as I could have the CB125 by next weekend (although I can't ride it on the road until I do my CBT and there's a bit of a backlog atm.

Have you considered doing the full test? The CBT (I think) only lasts for 2 years and I believe you can no longer just keep on taking additional CBT's.

Although you can renew the CBT (Sam has just done a re-sit as he's 23 and it's not worth him doing his test until he's 24 and can do Direct Access), I do intend to do the full test if there's enough money in the kitty this Winter. In part, the Honda will give me a chance to refresh my motorcycling as it's 30 years since I've ridden one regularly and the Clockwork Banana is more like a bicycle than a motorbike.

Good God, is that a tattoo on Nick's leg? I never had him down as a vulgar lower-class chav.

I thought that reference was to Jeff's parents sitting in the bow. And looks more like a shaved head and beard to me. Telemachus will have to let us know. Rog

I DO have to say, I was a little disappointed at how normally sized Nick's head is Nick's head is a bit like the Tardis- it's a lot bigger on the inside than the outside.

You're on form today Mr Stabby. you must be bored... have another tenants *or polish equivalent* and an afternoon nap. We've just stopped for the day somewhere... got pushed into the roof of bridge 89 by an idiot who plowed through despite me already being in it... Things almost came to fisticuffs when the bosun went out the front end to tell (the chaps wife) what fools they were... she was busy claiming "we can't reverse as there are boats moored up" so to avoid more even more damage being done to the handrail, I backed all the way out and tried to restrain the bosun - he really was fired up and ready to leap over and punch the chap. I must admit, I used a few choice words and expressed how unsporting it had been of him to push me into the roof of the bridge/tunnel bit. He claimed deafness and (resigned to the paint already scraped off) I powered away to stop David slapping him. Hey ho. Anyway- tied up now with poor wifi but a tv signal for a change so it'll be an evening of crappy telly before plodding on tomorrow.

Made it back alive, if a bit muddy. Discovered a large shoal of (sea) bass chasing (sea) sandeels. Hammering them they were, the (sea) eels scattering everywhere across the surface as the (sea) bass chased them. Only in a foot of water over a sandbank. Hope they are there tomorrow, the fly rod will be making an appearance.
