To-day not quite as exciting.. the dogs sleepover every bit as 'successful' as a Childs one in that 'sleep' not quite the descriptive word I'd use... Freya kept leaping on daughters bed to get to Luna who attempted to hide.. I am shattered. So todays walk not so long and now home Tomorrow heavy rain forecast.

Mixed news from the farm. We had a barbecue this afternoon, which was good. And I think I've buggered my inverter which isn't so good. I managed to overload it by accidentally turning on the immersion heater with my leg. When I've done this in the past it's always re-set itself after a brief pause but this time it doesn't want to play ball. Running out of light now but I'll open it up tomorrow and see if it's maybe a fuse.

Well it happened again. Earlier on I was like "can't really be arsed" Dulcinea was like "you know I always put a smile on your face!" And I was like "oh yes" so we had a run down to near Windsor and successfully acquired the socially distant island mooring, which is handy. I played gongoozler at Marlow and sat on the watching bench for a picture of the boat. Turned out to be a nice picture actually. I can see why that bench is so well worn. Nice place to sit and watch. They don't get to see this incredibly clever little boat that often but there is a good variety of boats on the River so it's pretty good for gongoozling. Not remotely religious myself but it's quite a nice steeple in the background too. I have so far avoided going below Windsor because the River is a bit of a mess down there but might do a run to Teddington before returning to the ranch and becoming socially undistant once the woman and kids come back from France.

Well we've left Stone for waters new... before our departure, there was another wedding and another hot-air-balloon went up. Never mind balloon rides - I'm going to suggest what a newly married couple REALLY need is a spin around the marina in a "live aboard experience" boat... and see if I can make a few quit when we get moored up over winter lol. Heading south ,it was a nice enough day and once beyond Great Haywood, all new to 'Ellis'... Deciding to make use of the promised shopping, we stopped for the night in 'post apocalyptic' Rugeley! - no sooner had I turned the engine off and open the side hatch did a 'posh boat' turn up from behind... it turnd out to be telemachus (probably spelled that wrong cause I didn't go to proper skool) and it was nice to see the'd give the butler the afternoon off - (he appeared , the butler that is) to be dozing on the bow)... I DO have to say, I was a little disappointed at how normally sized Nick's head is but it was nice of them to shout a "hello" and have the briefest of chats as they began to drift into the shallows. Still, it was good to put a face to the names and I did rather like Geoff's socks. Having walked the town (reminds me of Castleford but without the glamour), I found home bargains and stocked up on instant lighting fuel logs... after which, we spotted a music shop (David's electric violin has arrived and now he needs other things to go with it) - alas , said shop was closed until 9 am thus morning... which means we're hanging around until then to make SURE we get wet chugging the rest of the day... forecast is grim

Heavy rain this morning in Barmouth. It's not all grim though. Forecast is for it to brighten up later and then 2 weeks without rain or significant wind. Wind has been so bad I haven't been able to go out on the 'yak since last Sunday. Also, it's ripped up a load of weed from the offshore reef making (sea) bassing almost impossible. I've had to limit myself to long walks which while pleasant is a bit frustrating, when I could be doing so much more. Things are looking up!

Despite the grim forecast, it's not raining yet, but quite grey and cloudy. Met Ian and Ali yesterday and they are lovely ... they're probably still walking back to their boat as it was moored miles away (hope not because of my reputation ) Rog

Was good chatting over a beer or two, despite you getting me a telling off from the barmaid!

Sorry if I seemed slightly dopey at the start, I am a bit deaf, was standing on the engine and was struggling to understand you. Then it twigged I had to adapt to northern type accent (pretty obvious really, because I know you’re from the north, even though you don’t write with a northern accent) and after that was fine! Yes butler and maid were on day off lounging in the front. They are getting a bit past it and I think we will need to consider sacking them and replacing with younger models. Jeff is always complaining about the droopy thing and I can see from your photo it is pretty bad. The stern fenders, I mean. Maybe if I place some little blue pills on them they will perk up?

It's compulsory to bellow "TellyMackus!" at the top of your voice whenever you see TellyMackus.
