All this talk of batteries and solar panels has me feeling like the poor relation again. Probably due to the lack of sun about at the moment... new batteries on with a little more capacity but still having to sit with the engine chugging (not moving cause we are here too early) for 3 hours a day to keep the freezer going. If I was young enough, I'd sell my body for a few weeks to finance a better solution - as it is, I'd be hard pressed to flog a kidney on ebay. Anyway - moaning a side, I'm pleased for you dogless to have joined the 21st century... it's quite painless lol. Still, you are going to find yourself on hot sunny days unable to hide from the sun any more so maybe buy some airtex underpants ;-) We moved into the noisier (but deeper) pound between 8 and 7 yesterday and judging by the continued choc-a-bloc ness further up, will stay here and have the guest walk down to meet us tomorrow. She's coming early than she should anyway so it'll help fill her time walking down the canal a bit... she's not frail so a mile with a back pack might make her think again about sneaking on an early train next time. QUESTION: We end this trip in Bedworth before going into Coventry basin (2 days later to collect the new folks) - I've heard disparaging reports on Bedworth ... do those in the know have any mooring recommendations near shops to make life easier or do we just take pot luck and hope for the best? Have read lock 10 at Atherstone has broken, gate has lifted out. Not sure how long before you head back but be worth checking. IN order of importance: 1 ) it WAS NOT ME 2) I WAS NOT THERE 3) I've had a chat and the gate can only be used with the use of a jack - ergo, they let a few up/down until 5pm and then went home - coming back tomorrow to put stop planks in and try to put it back in it's thingy. 4) We don't come back this way until Mid September so hopefully it will all be done by then! ner ner

Hamlet's Mum ... commenting during the 'play within the play' written by the troubled Prince, on the performance of one of the female characters "The lady doth protest too much, methinks" And then, it being Hamlet, everybody dies Rog

Anyway ... it's very cloudy here. When Jane got up at 5.30am (I have no idea) we were showing 12.89v When I got up at 7.30am we were showing 13.07v Laundry day and we can go off without running the engine first, which is the main thing I was hoping for. We're very pleased ... promise I'll not mention solar again Rog PS I'll remember to keep my bowler on

Has me stabby the skinflint had his solar fitted yet? I forget.
