grey damp morning here .... and cor !!! didn't it chuck it down yesterday. I was getting water and just laying out the hose and turning the taps on got me wet. By the time I had wound the hose up again, then got to the boat and unwound to empty the bowser I was like a drowned rat. When the bowser was emptied and I needed to go and turn off the pump I had just got to the end of the walkway the rain suddenly became a monsoon. The hose wasn't coiled up neatly and put away ..... it's a big tangled heap on the deck

"The Scotch and the Irish leave you close to tears". Oh dear. In his maudlin mood, maybe the Scotch (whisky) and Irish (whiskey) maybe would leave him close to tears. labour the point: continue explaining something when everyone clearly understands

You can't make it up - I really am cursed...
So - 2 important things to note here... my best friend is unhurt & the RAC are incompetent .
The padding verson is that I'd had 3 tickets booked and 2 hotel rooms in Stoke for Fascinating Aida last night for months...
Ok so the bosun wasn't coming but my best friend was... she left Bedale (North Yorkshire) about 3pm to drive down and meet me at the hotel. She got involved in an accident on the M60 (something hit her car underneath and resultant bang sent oil all over the motorway and her spun to the side... engine inoperable. This was half 4. Accepted she wasn't going to make it as the RAC said theyd be about 40 mins to collect her and as we had to be covid checked into the theater for 6/30 - not a hope...
Anyway - I ummed and arred about NOT going on my own but (after 3/4 bottle of vino) I grew a pair of balls 9and given I was 200 quid down for the night anyway) I went - offering the spare 2 tickets to the girls behind reception in the hotel in case any of their friends/family wanted to go. Seemed odd being in the theatre on my own but I wrapped my self around another 2 large flasses of vino (at £7.90 a glass ffs) and made the best of it.
On leaving the Theatre about 10, she had been collect by one truck and then abandoned at a service station to await another truck to take her and her car home
4.30 AM the other one hadn't arrived and they FINALLY sent her a taxi - the car to follow later. Her husband (ex marina) at home going mad with them... rightly so.
Anyway - important thing is she's fine and the car is insured and can be mended... it was a miserable night though for all and certainly not the intended "uplift".
Off to the gym now to fight the flab.
Incidentally - I must have looked really sad this morning cause when I TRIED to get a refund on the unused room, explaining my friend had had a crash on route and didn't make it, they tried to give me a cuppa and chat - only then did it occur my wording had implied she had been killed... it's not really funny but certainly dark humour and that was probably the most amusing thing about the last 24 hours.

You can't make it up - I really am cursed... Breakdowns are never fun. Anyhow your friend isn't dead and the car isn't a total loss. IMO RAC & AA are rubbish these days but it's cheaper than paying on the day.

U r having a run of bad luck.... It will change... There are positives in your tale of woe..your friend is OK...and I think thats the most important. Hope her husband wipes the floor with the RAC... Covid has become a 'what have u' excuse for appalling service and its more than time that these Service Providers got their acts together. Take care...

It's the council one - Freedom leisure.... it's fine and not full of muscle marys... just (mostly) oldies and the occasional twink... not intimidating at all thank goodness - they have made swimming difficult cause you have to book a session (limited numbers due to covid??? - CHOLRINE???) so Im only really managing the gym atm... I'll make more of an effort to get back into swimming when I've shifted some more blubber and look half acceptable in trunks...well shorts. NOT gonna disappoint everyone in a pair of budgie smugglers. Strange that one Mark its been a free for all at our swimming pool for months, I would prefer it to go back to booking but no chance, far to many women only sessions though so I have complained about it

I didn't realise it was Halloween last night. Imagine the shock when someone hammered on my door at 6 in the evening declaring 'trick or treat' Not wanting to risk my motor bike having its tyres slashed by way of a trick I hastily ran to the food cupboard and extracted 2 10p 'Racer' bars. I was half expecting the kids to laugh in my face at such meanness and trash my bike anyway but no, they seemed happy enough with this.

If you do Lady Ange will have your guts for garters. You should be complaining that there are not enough women only sessions, rather than too many.

You should be complaining that there are not enough women only sessions, rather than too many. Its not always okay here, your remarks regarding women in general are sometimes shameful wherever they are posted. Thunderboat should not be a free for all to post garbage platform, and certainly not a place to score points in the hope your protagonist on cwdf might read it! I suggest you were not actually replying to Peter! The issue for me is there are no men only sessions, so on an annual membership women do better than men, the council set up a minimum no of general swim sessions and it would appear that the company has gone below them, as a load of women only sessions have been cancelled looking at the website, so it appears my complaint was valid. It helps having a daughter as a Councillor and a sister who works in the right dept

No they were the ones that told me the rules about the contract, the building is owned by the council but let to the sports company with certain provisions, unfortunately from time to time they have to be reminded
