If one has taste class and money (these three are not always traveling companions) one must have a villa or mansion beside the River with gaily planted gardens and quite often a water garden is called for. So Oakley Court was for sale all those yars ago Someone did spend a fortune on it. A real one. The water gardens, now derelict and taken over by nature, are amazing. lots and lots of stonemason produ ed large sandstone rocks and a cave. Some idiot had put tarpaulins over the cave so I removed them. I am sure someone keeps an eye on this place. The house itself is now a corporate entertainment venue but the woodland and water garden are a bit derelict.

Same here, cold and crisp but not unpleasant. Moving the boat to Charity Dock today.

Quite a cold brisk wind, but gloriously glorious sunshine ☀
Apparently back to rain again here tomorrow, so we may head into Rugby later so we can do shopping whilst it's wet.
The lighter evenings are terrific too ... noticed last night we were still getting solar at 7.30pm ... which is nice 😁

I once completed two marathons in one day. Do I hear snickers from the audience?

Wanted to pick up some waterproofing spray for our walking boots. Checked on line and Mountain Warehouse have their own brand for £8.99 so decided to call at Elliot's Field and buy one. This stuff ... However in the shop it's priced at £16.99 but half price with any other purchase. I 'whinged a bit' and the guy charged me the online price, which was good of him. If I'd just bought it however without checking it would have been £16.99. No wonder retail is losing out to online shopping. Rog

The derelict watergardens. Those rocks sure didn't get there all by themselves. Someone had slaves or spent a lot of money. Or both! Nice place really. I like derelict old stately home gardens. Its my thing and fortunately there are a few on the River so one can enjoy the pleasure and think of how different things were back in the day for those with shed loads of cash. Priorities have changed over time. The mansion is now a hotel.

Interesting amount of excavation took place to provide the ponds. Obviously with half a mile of riverbank one wants to discourage mooring of Boats by Others Unknown so the spoil has been used to shallow the edges so one can not moor. I can only land using the dinghy.
Which is ideal.

Cheaper, more effective and as a natural product better for the planet. Ah, maybe you haven't got proper leather boots. My James Boylan pair .with genuine commando soles from almost 50 years ago are still going strong but they probably don't get as much wear as yours.
