It is a bit naff when doctora decide to be clairvoyants.
Happened with one of my uncles. He had cancer and was 'given 18 months to live'.
In the end the cancer went away but he was mentally ready to die so he hanged himself from a tree in his garden.
Control freak. Bloody doctors !

Lovely morning. Chilly but sun is coming up. Should be some good action on the River being a Sunday.

Bright and clear this morning on the Welsh coast. Let's hope nobody drowns today. I'm tiring of hearing of rip currents, when there were no rip currents.

A little bit overcast here but the sun should break through soon I think. Just waiting for the moisture to be driven off the roof and I'll put the first coat of paint on. Planning to do three coats, 48 hours apart. Assuming I go cruising next year I will set off later in the year so I don't have to carry half-a-dozen bags of coal on the roof as this is clearly what deteriorated the paintwork in the first place.

Sorry about your Mum's news Mr Stabby ... however as you said at 89 years, to seek to quote any 'time scale' is slightly ludicrous. Hope she remains comfortable, pain free and enjoying life as long as possible. What happened with work and your stand off ... resolved satisfactorily? Sunny, blue sky and little wind here at Denham ... time to move on towards Paddington and hope to find a mooring for one last night. Rog

I think the problem is that she's a bit afraid of dying. Perhaps it could be argued that I'll change my tune when it becomes imminent rather than being on the horizon but my thoughts mirror Mark Twain's quote made when he was near the end- "I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it".
All fine at work, they've found other things to concern themselves with. It's a bit strange working at this time of year but I'm enjoying spending time working on the boat and the mooring.

Lovely morning cruise to Cowley and the last three locks completed.
Heard cuckoo's again at Denham lock 👍🏻
Someone shouted my name as we headed into Uxbridge ... looked back and saw a guys head popping up from a moored boat and him waving. Unsure who it was, but I hope I don't owe you any money 😁
Again there's lots of moored boats but got a spot, and everyone (so far) has been very friendly.
Into Paddington tomorrow.

Someone once asked me what stereotyping was. I had to explain it is where someone is able to interact with a keyboard using both hands.

First topcoat applied to the roof. I used the same paint as last time, Black Country Paints county cream but this time it seemed thicker and more pigmented. I think maybe I didn't stir it for long enough last time, they have updated the instructions to say it needs to be stirred for 3-5 minutes so I did that, also this time I used a paint stirrer on my cordless drill rather than a broom handle. Will probably leave it until next weekend to put the second coat on. It is a bit overly bright at the moment but that should tone down after a few months of weathering.

Certainly bright on a sunny day ... but looks good.
We have to tackle the roof once we leave London.
Such fun.

Certainly bright on a sunny day ... but looks good. We have to tackle the roof once we leave London. I'm thinking one more coat will probably be enough which means I should have half the 5l can left over, if you want to pick it up when you pass by next you can have it if it's any good to you. There's not much point in me keeping it as it has a 12 month shelf life and I won't be repainting for 4-5 years I'd have thought. It's proper industrial grade stuff, made by this lot www.bcpaints.com/
