Having turned the boat round, I washed the other side and then went to see my mother. Then did the shopping, served up tea and cake, then served up G&T and crisps, then cooked the dinner. All very exhausting.

Ah ... how lucky to be able to say "and then went to see my mother".
We've been fortunate with the weather today.
Gone about our business, bought stuff we needed including more books, and avoided the rain that has been plentiful since the afternoon.
Been raining constantly since about 6pm and more forecast tomorrow.
At least it's not been cold.

Ah ... how lucky to be able to say "and then went to see my mother". Yes, although I think she is coming to the end. She’s had a very full life of 101 years but macular degeneration and severe deafness makes her quality of life poor. She keeps saying “i just want to pop off” and when talking about the future “hopefully I won’t be around then”. It’s going to be funny when she dies, I will really try to celebrate her life rather than mourn her passing, but I suspect the reality won’t be that easy. Mind you, she is still in her own house and will probably outlive me!

Horrible, grey, cold and rainy morning. Won't be going to work on the scooter today. Hasn't been much of a Summer so far. Hoping for some improvement before Charlie comes up in early August for the bike ride.

Grey and cloudy, but dry for now.
Off to the launderette today ... something the rain can't spoil 😁
It's only a few hundred yards from the basin so very convenient for us.

A bit naff and raining slightly.
Fire is lit which helps because it means one can dispose of the used food in a sensible way rather than having to fill up the shit suitcase.
A short cruise later is on the agenda there does not seem to be any particular reason to go just yet. Quite bright so it will probably turn out nice later m

Went to York today and it rained all the way there and most of the way back.
Forecast looking slightly better tomorrow, I'll see how it is in the morning and hopefully will be ok to go to work on the Vespa. I've set a target of using to to go to work 40 times between the beginning of July and the end of September. As it saves £2.50 a time on fuel this means a saving of £100. There's no real reason and I don't need the money but it's a sort of challenge. So far I'm on 3.

Fazeley to Fradley today. Just the one heavy shower, so not too bad. Quite warm but no sun!

Moored in the basin, Stratford upon Avon. Fairly warm evening and suns trying to say hello. Coming down the lower Stratford was quiet, few hirers and half a dozen of them noisy old boats. Found out earlier today that the Evesham river show is on next week. £15 for a mooring for the weekend, which also entitles you to a ANT reduced monthly licence. Bit of a bargain really.

Sailing around the world in a sloop catching fish looks less and less fun. Eating fish is overated in my opinion, although I do like a pan-fried sea-bass cooked with butter and dill. Are you still being supplied with free vapes or did they cut you off after a while? I'm Interested because I've been given a supply but the people in charge seem like they're taking time off from their Jehovah's Witness meets.

The experiment failed...

Was peeing down this morning,so decided to stay put boat-wise.Went off on the bus to Congleton for a mooch (years since we'd visited by boat).Stopped off in Sandbach on the way back & it's a cracking little town.Bus passes are coming in handy already-P has had his for years(he's 71 tomorrow) but mine is pretty new. Fair few boats going our way in Wheelock-so it could be like 'Wacky Races' in the morming, but hey ho that's life.Heading for Rode Heath tomorrow, but will leave going out for P's birthday meal til Thurs' as I think pubs etc could be busy tomorrow eve.

Moored just below Sunbury lock alongside my old cartel guy friend's Boat. All seems to be ok. I think he might have been chopped up as he was quite into the whole drug dealing thing but they know me and realise that if they come around and try to take me out they will experience a terrible world of pain.
Turned out sunny. I had some abv so not sure if going out is sensible but chrikey on a bikey is it tempting !
It is a week day so the ALDI at Walton will be open for more beer and a cheap pizza! Time to go out in the floating electric beer drinking platform. Again,
Don't tell anyone but I have the key to bypass the public power timers on the locks on the River so I can make it go all woosh woosh with the water and get moving fast.
and I was like OMG and Yeah Yeah Yeah.
Isn't it.

I have doubts as to its efficacy. But if it genuinely curbs the desire to smoke I'm all for it. And especially if it works out cheaper 🙄
