Good afternoon strangers.
I've just spent a couple of hours trying to get my ruddy laptop to stay on to update the website and when I finally got it working, it seems I've locked myself OUT of my website now ffs.
I'm glad this season is nearly over... tbh I've had a few health setbacks here and there and (unsually for me) don't feel like sharing them atm. That said, I HAVE had a bit of epiphany money wise and decided to take next year off for the most part... as such, I'm going to change my planned routes and go places I want to go like starting back to Liverpool, hang around in Llangollen a bit and then work my way down to Oxford then another lark around on the Thames. I'm going to (when I get back in) update the website to show most of my trips booked to allow time to ditch the K & A (no REAL desire to do it anyway) but I will try ffor the Basingstoke canal and then work my way back up North.
As far as punters will be concerned, I'll just appear booked up for most of the year and once 2026 is online, I might be inclined to take bookings again - doing it on my own is just too ruddy hard work. I've also changed the solo sup to 100 % for everyone - it just got crazy that 11 weeks this year were taken up by single travellers which are just as exhausting (if not more so in some cases when they don't leave my side for the entire trip). I've worded it as a charge per boat charter rather than pp.
Sorry for the self absorbed nature of this ... just wanted to report in that I'm not dead yet . It WAS lovely to bump into Andyberg again (twice now) but I've no idea where anyone else is this year... I'm heading up the Llangollen a week today for my final 3 trips this year and then back to Dry dock for blacking and new anodes. I'm also buying New solar panels, a new inverter and going BACK to 12v fridge freezer for next year.
ttfn and best wishes to all.

Nice to see you here again Mark. Dealing with the public is a PITA at the best of times but having them around 24/7 would be a nightmare to me.
In other news Charlie and Sam are both visiting this weekend apparently so we'll be taking four bikes to Brinklow Festival.
Work have accepted my claim that I've been underpaid for overtime worked and are paying me £302 nett on payday for it.
Still no progress with the Scoopy's V5C.

Well, not a very nice morning today. Strong blustery winds and grey skies, if I wasn't going to work I'd probably light the stove for the first time in ages. At the moment, the forecast for show day Sunday isn't too bad, I imagine the Lancaster flypast would be cancelled if the winds were gusting as they are today.

I have an exciting update about the Scoopy's V5C!
Although the DVLA website is still not showng that a new V5C has been issued, I've just checked my bank account and the cheque I sent them with the V62 has now been cashed. Since they only do this if the application has been successful then the V5C is about to be issued and I should have it next week sometime with any luck. Then I can turn my attention to getting it MOT'd as it's four years short of becoming exempt.

Vile morning in North Wales. An insect of some description flew into my open helmet on the way to work yesterday and promptly bit/ stung me. A wasp is a possibility but there wasn't the immediate pain of a wasp sting. Almost straight away though, the left side of my face started swelling and 24 hours 3 anti histamine on, it's still swollen. I suppose a horsefly is a possibility but I've been bitten by them before with no such reaction. I guess the culprit will remain a mystery.

Maybe it was a seahorse fly.

I don't believe anyone who says they have seen a horse fly.

On 21 August, 2024 at 19:52:50 GMT 1 Mr Stabby said : Still no progress with the Scoopy's V5C. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The delay in issuing Shit-for-Brains Coventon with a new logbook for his latest acquisition has resulted from the DVLA being alerted to the fact that this seriously deranged psychopath has, among other related and unrelated irregularities, been lying to and wilfully misleading them for 9(+) years with false vehicle registration details, is but one relatively minor aspect of the much grimmer reality that's about to catch-up with and have some significant effects on the lowlife turd, . . and his distinctly 'iffy' and murky 'under the radar' lifestyle. Slam Transport, one particular transport/distribution company that Shit-for-Brains Coventon and his internet stalking buddy, Roger ' dogless' Day have singled out for some of their unwelcome attention will, in all probability, after completion of their own checks and enquiries, continue following developments, . . as, no doubt, will the company this malevolent arsewipe does actually work for, . . and breach customer confidentiality/information on the internet, . . Yes, it must be hard to post knowing all we see is This Post Is Hidden. Talk about banging your head against a brick wall.
Back to Ticks, a radio 4 prog was talking about Alpha-Gal syndrome, an allergy to red meat. Alpha gal is an animal blood sugar not found in homo sapiens apes. Frequent tick bites transfer animal blood into the victim and the immune system reacts to be rid. Then you eat meat and ingest the alpha-gal, anaphylaxis results, to a greater or lesser degree.
