All that said, the turnout was only 37%. So what about the 63%, couldn't be arsed or disillusioned with politics. I think it's time for an extra box on the polling form, 'None of the above' Yes, it’s funny really that despite the Brexit debaticle over the last 2-3 years it seems most of us and most businesses are getting on with life just fine. Maybe politics is actually less effective on our lives than politicians realise. After all, other than manipulate words, what else do they actually DO? Belgium had no elected government for nearly 2 years and kept operating. We could be on to something

Belgium had no elected government for nearly 2 years and kept operating. We could be on to something I suppose the only problem with having no government is that the alternative is to hand the running of the country to those who run and invest billions in private companies. Actually it is already run by them, it’s just that our politicians are used as a tool to make it look like there is some kind of accountability and democracy. What we need are people who can stand up to the powers that be when they go off track and represent the wishes of the majority of the public. I genuinely believe there are good people in high places but sadly that’s not true for all of them (or us).

I think over five and a half million voting for the Brexit party says everything that needs to be said. Any attempt at interpretation of the voting is simply fairy talk.

I agree ... but the 'fairy talk' is out there.
I don't see an end to this debacle, do you?

Any attempt at interpretation of the voting is simply fairy talk. ....that and the fact that only 3% voted for the alternative Change party (or should that read ‘No Change’ party?). Seems over 60% voted for the ‘Couldn’t give a shit’ party. That says quite a lot too.

I don't really think another referendum will silence them, even if they lost heavily. I think we need to start from scratch, a referendum leave or stay, and a general election afterwards with a clear mandate. The party's need to be cleared out, they are full of bloated, lazy idiotic freeloaders who have completely lost touch with reality. Defying their constituents and completely misreading the whole situation shows how ignorant they have become. To be honest, I think parliament and the "system" has had its day. I've no idea of what would take its place, but I do believe we are on the brink of something else.

They did not vote, and any attempt at muddying the waters with interpretation of what they might have done is irrelevant to the point we are at.

More remain votes than one trick pony Brexit party votes - anyone seen a manifesto? Of course we had Nige on the radio this morning claiming it was still 52/48, utter bollocks as usual. Labour would have made a better fist of it if they had plumped for remain, as their members wish.

A classic reply and example of how social media completely corrupts what is happening in the real world.

I don’t think a low turn out percentage reflects the Brexit argument much, but I think it does reflect how many people don’t care enough about politics (and politicians) as a whole. If they cared enough they would make an effort to vote.

If they cared enough they would make an effort to vote. The fact is this, the Brexit party was 2 million votes clear of its nearest rival, and 4.5 million votes clear of the change party. Says it all, and no interpretation needed, just common sense and an acceptance of facts.

Low turn out ... but in the EU elections it was an increase in turn out since the last one (across the EU). Jim response evidences that everyone will claim victory from the results. It doesn't progress us at all, apart from proving both major parties are serving no one but themselves. Any ideas how we end this? Rog
