The homeless really should pester the politicians and the people at the Town Hall and local councillors. On a slight tangent, we will be housing three homeless chaps this Sunday night: narvelos.fr/en/home/ They're cycling from France to the top of Norway & back. I wonder if they're aware a snowstorm is on its way for Friday - This is for Friday: Have to keep an eye on this, can I get home from work tomorrow at 4pm? And probably have to take all the Summer wheels off our car and put the studded tyres / Winter wheels back on again. Phhtt....!

It seems CRT still have internal bullying issues 12 months on from when I first posted comments from glass door website relating to staff comments. This latest post below to the website should be worrying for the trust. The use of the word terrorists to describe some of their own staff is disgusting.

I read that earlier when the link was posted........ I have come to the conclusion that CRT are hell bent on corporate suicide I have always maintained that CRT are designed to fail and lead to full scale privatisation and a break up of the waterways network. Gov don't want it. Who does want it? Mr Peel?

How about selling the canals to Deutsche Bahn? When I say 'sell', of course, I mean give away, as the UK 'Government' has done with half the railways. Deutsche Bahn are running Arriva, Northern, Chiltern Railways, Cross Country, Grand Central, Tyne & Wear Metro, and Wales & Borders.

I've heard today that the facilities in Loughborough basin have been closed and removed. Can anyone confirm or deny this? If so its getting ridiculous how many have been closed and removed recently. It's looking like this is carts new plan in the ongoing discouragement of boaters living on their boats on the cut. 04/04/2019 16:12 We have received confirmation that the facilities are now fully repaired and the security risk has been resolved, we have now changed the standard CRT lock to a combination lock to prevent vandalism going forward. The facilities have now been re-opened to customers. These facilities now operate by a coded lock, to obtain the combination code please contact 0303 040 4040 and ask to speak with the Newark Office. As we will be hunting for Elsan points along the River Soar I remenbered kris's warning / heads-up. Had a look at CRT's notices and the above is dated 4th April, kris's at 30th April. Does anyone have any idea what the situation really is? Or will we be the first ones to enquire from local boaters?

Why would a combination lock "prevent vandalism going forward" compared with a BW watermate key?
So you ring Newark office, then what? CRT customer number? How do you prove you are a boater. All that just to empty the shit suitcase.
And surely someone will just post the code on FB or T or forums. Or is there some CRT chappie going out and changing it daily or something.
Sounds like a recipe for nuisance.
I would have though a better approach would be to change all the locks to ASSA security locks and provide keys to license holders by post with a small fee. On our moorings the ASSA keys are £20. The key cutter won't copy them.
That way you get secure services which only license paying boaters can access.
One key sent with license then £20 each for extras -sent to license payers address.
I suppose it would cost a bit.
Yes ASSA locks can be picked if you are really into it but they are quite difficult.

Some marinas use a similar system for their shower blocks with the code changing on a regular basis
