Anyone following them?
Seems to me, so far at least, that they have been a fairly spectacular failure.
The preamble set the scene really, with the yeah but no but banning of Russian athletes. The finest example of collective responsibility for perceived indiscretions since Hitler.
Now the games have started the various stadia, built at a huge cost to a poor country, have been pretty empty.
The only thing reminiscent of London is the BBC reporters who, despite dodging bullets from time to time, seem completely unable to report anything in a reasonable light. According to them, history has been made approximately 104 times during the past week. God knows how kids are going to learn history in the future. The books will be so thick they will barely be able to lift them. "Unbelievable" and "incredible" are part of every sentence.
If any history has really been made, it's the amount of hyperbole spouted by the BBC.

Can't we have Emma Spencer doing the commentary instead? Now there's a bit of eye candy!!!

Brazil is NOT a poor country!
It is richly endowed, but badly administered

The 470's were good to watch. Rugby 7 OK till Fiji handed GB their arse on a plate. Not interested much in anything else at the moment. Ricco is right unbelievable is over used and incorrect. A man eating his own head would be unbelievable © Guy Martin

Come on it's only a bit of running and jumping, what's to get so worked up about? It's good to see people giving it a shot though. No need to hammer it in. It's nice to discus it freely. I know, too early in the morning for that...

I think the para Olympians are inspirational to overcome such setbacks and still achieve.

I think the para Olympians are inspirational to overcome such setbacks and still achieve. Wasn't the para Olympics invented in Aylesbury at Stoke Mandeville? Yes, it was a great idea and gave many people an opportunity which was probably not there before the 60s. It must be quite difficult matching up the the right groups as the degree of disabilities vary a lot.

Pleased to see that Jessica Ennis-Hill didn't retain her Olympic title. The apparent darling of the BBC: "Jess" should now perhaps reflect over the fact that she nearly destroyed the career of a promising footballer; Ched Evans. Her threat to demand Sheffield United remove her name from one of their stands should Evans (not convicted of anything at the time) continue to be employed by the club was a disgrace. Gutless Sheffield United went along with all this and sacked the bloke. If I had been in charge of the club I would have reminded Ennis-Hill that naming a stand after her was an honour to her. She should have felt proud that a sport that has nothing to do with her, that pays its way by having lots of fee paying fans, recognises her as an important local sporting achiever. Ennis-Hill, despite taking part in a sport with few fee paying customers, that wouldn't exist if it weren't for charitable donations (read national lottery) appears view herself as some kind of sporting, ethical and legal demigod.
Let's hope she retires, so we don't have to see the cunt's face ever again on t.v.

The fact Evans is a gutless abuser of young women who happen to be drunk out of their skulls can obviously be passed off as acceptable in Ricco land. Hes a twat and if he gets off the rape charge this time lets not forget he and his pals thought it was funny to have sex with a clearly unable to resist young girl, record it and after she passed out let his friends in to have a go as well. Allegedly of course, because we wouldnt want to stain his obviously spotless character and fine upstanding member of the community he is. (feel free to go running to Delta about 'ooh possible defamation quick delete the comment' You werent RickieLambert07 on twitter were you??

I think you'll find that Evans went to prison as soon as he was, incorrectly, convicted. He was sacked by the club for the crime of being accused of something, nothing more. Encouraged by lots of 'outrage' of course, the high profile element of this being Ennis-Hill.

Check your facts rape apologist, she made the statement about the stand when the Blades were looking at re employing him after his release from prison not before. He was convicted in 2011, they renamed the stand in 2012 after she won gold, it was 2014 before Jess Ennis spoke about the stand. It might not fit your misogynistic view of the world where evil women ruin the lives of pure and good men but the facts dont lie. You say incorrectly convicted
