The worst thing about this (IF his allegations were false) is that it undermines and demotivates real victims trying to get justice.

Totally agree. One member on TB has insinuated I hang around schools dishing out sweets. I hold him in the same regard.

I am unsure which has been worse, the sweeping under the carpet (or just a refusal to accept the possibility) of genuine instances of historic abuse, or the rabid .... no smoke without a fire cries of those when other people have been accused, with little or no supporting evidence.
Certainly an evil man who has caused inestimable damage

It must be said that it is undeniable that "Harvey Proctor" is an anagram of "O arch Tory perv".

The police and the CPS didnt pursue any of it to the point of even arresting any one. But i definitely agree with the second bit, he has disrespected them big style and he wasted £2.5 mill of tax payers money in the process. All his assets should have been seized to part repay it or recompense his accused.

The issue in Rotherham was about a LACK of belief in complainants.
The issue here was about too much belief ... maybe we're all guilty of wanting to believe in high level corruption.
An appalling case.

Rog that's the issue isent it, you have a major scandal wher enough one believes the victims and to prevent it from happening again they swing the other way and take every complaint seriously. is there a middle line though.

I think you already know l dont subscribe to that bollocks. Apparently the CPS work on the basis of a 50/50 chance of being found guilty by a jury as a basis for taking a prosecution forward. I personally find that a very low chance and was surprised by it. The fact nothing has been taken forward during operation midland suggests they knew they didnt have the remotest chance of making anything stick on the accused. The british justice system is not perfect but id take it over China's or North Korea's.
