There is a question to be asked though...
Something like - Why do disaster stories hold the front pages?
Same with boaters though. We don’t often say how wonderful the view was...we like to say how difficult our journey was and how brave we were . And with it comes a deep seated cynicism of life...

I think you need to be more discerning. There are only two on that list on whom I wouldn't piss if they were on fire (and I'm not sure about you). Don't even think about pissing on me, you might be offended by my response. No problem. Keep on burning.

I celebrate life. I had a bad call, maybe you did. It’s our choice in the end I suppose. I don’t see one evil person here...but that is only my opinion and I could be wrong.

In my defense if I owned a house in Whaley Bridge I'd still see the funny side of it. Seeing humour in unfortunate circumstances helps to get you through life without too much depression, in my opinion. I know others don't agree but whether you react to misfortune with humour, or, run around waving your arms frantically in the air telling everyone who will listen how terrible things are, there's no moral superiority, one way or the other. Some people are sensitive and genuinely concerned Cry me a River. Bleeding Hearts of the world unite. These people have had a few years to be 'genuinely concerned', with the poor maintenance issue already having been reported. Where were they all this time? Why only now are they 'genuinely concerned'? Well then, they'll be more than willing to put the residents of Whaley Bridge up in their own homes for a while, will they? Yeah... I bet. It'll be 'inconvenient' because they're going on holiday, or some made-up excuse. A bit of the top has come away, that's all. Hardly surprising, it's an old dam, hasn't been looked after, and heavy rain lately has helped show the cracks. We know people who live in Whaley Bridge. And we wouldn't like our supplies of engine oil filters to get wet (held in Furness Vale)! But why buy a house beneath a huge, old, unstable reservoir? And is CRT really responsible for its maintenance?

Seeing humour in adversity and actively wishing for that adversity to provide you with entertainment are not quite the same thing. There is a question to be asked though...
Something like - Why do disaster stories hold the front pages?
Because everybody wants to see the BANG! BOOM! SPLASH! but then they tut tut those who speak the truth, and ride the bandwagon of morality. Why do people go to the cinema to watch John Wick 1, 2 and 3? Who would go to the movies to see 'James Bond Tends to his Roses'? I do hope Jenlyn has offered to house some of the refugees from Whaley Bridge. What's that, Jenlyn, no room at your place? Just like Wanted when I suggested migrants from the Calais 'Jungle' could sleep in his boat. Fake hand-wringers.

I've never spoken about the refugees in Calais, because I didn't support the cause. He's obviously fuckin demented.

No, we are all responsible. I’m still waiting for Kris to show me how to work a dredger...

But you have offered to put up anyone from Whaley Bridge who could potentially soon be homeless? Band-jumping-silly-hat-wearing-hypocrite.

Not really- it's simply that "aeroplane takes off and lands safely" isn't news, whereas "aeroplane crashes" is. The whole point of "news" is that it describes egregious events. Right-minded people don't normally wish for such events to happen though.
