This thread is about the far from resolved situation at Whaley bridge, not navel gazing about the state of the forum.

How many TBers have moved their boats closer to that area so that the evacuees may have a warm, dry place to sleep in, and the chance of a shower?
When bassplayer gets to Stoke-on-Trent, it's a simple train journey from Stockport/Marple/New Mills via Macclesfield and Congleton.
Why has everyone lost interest in this 'breaking news'? Surely not because it now looks increasingly likely that the dam isn't going to collapse...?
It's just like the WW2 spirit with the little boats going to Dunkerque. Only.... it isn't.

We’ve been through Stoke-on-Trent several times. Next year we’re hoping to spend most of the year up North but will be going via the Soar and Trent (much quicker), so won’t be going that way.

In other news Frenchman Franky Zapata has successfully crossed the channel on his "fly board air" kero fired hover board.
Yay. With one refuelling stop.
There is hope for the future !
One french man today, a whole nation of travellers tomorrow. Victory!

I can see where you're coming from. Personally, although not taken in by the BBC hyperbole "collapsed dam" (it hasn't collapsed; it's damaged; was/ is in danger of collapse; apparently), the issue has been on my mind. So, I made a phone call. She wasn't in the 'evacuation zone' as it happened but seemed very pleased with an invite for a night of bed and board and accepted without hesitation. I'll ask her if she's dogshit's mate when she gets here. While my offer doesn't come close to the host of 'celebrities' crying their eyes out over economic migrants and offer their homes to them (subsequently to bar them from the premises with walls topped with razor wire, dangerous dogs patrolling the gardens) I'm a man of limited means, I've done what I can.

Your help, love and peace is needed NOW, by the displaced of Whaley Bridge! Up to Stoke with you now! Now, if ever, is the time to show how volunteering is the answer! Otherwise all your future 'volunteers save the day' posts will be treated with contempt.
