Just as a minor point of interest I thought, having let the dust settle, I would apply to join the “Wigan Flight Crew” Facebook page. Would they actually twig that this person was me? If so would I be allowed to join?Well it seems they did twig and no I wasn’t. By rejecting my application not only can I not post, the entire group page is now invisible to me with no response to my application.
Says it all really - we let them come on here and vent off, but they certainly don’t want any nay-sayers be-spoiling their sycophantic little empire! Quite sad really! No wonder there are no negative posts on there - the groupthink is enforced rigorously. Reminds me yet again what is wrong with Facebook. No not wrong, evil!
The tragedy is, next time we do Wigan, how will I be able to suck up to them and pretty-please request their help? It won’t be possible.
I’m so grateful for small mercies!

That definitely shows weakness that I hope they'll correct.

If they let you in they would only delete all your bad comments. Let them come here, it can amuse us all.

This facebook closed group thing is going to lead to negative outcomes. Like war for example. Obviously in the meantime they make untold amounts of profit but for what? Undermining society? Is it really worth it.

I hope leyther sees this and can open up the group. I very much doubt it. People accustomed to Facebook simply can’t cope with anyone who has a differing view. Can I link to my favourite Tracy Ulman show please?

Really?
Including mine...
Poor internet signal here so if I don't respond to any comments/replies that is probably the reason...

Rog The group is still public, it seems like they have taken the additional step of blocking Nick after declining his 'join' request. Otherwise there is nothing to stop him making repeat requests to join, which i doubt he would have done anyway.

It is a breeding ground for hate and intolerance. sorry you are wrong many (most?) might be like that but as I have posted before I use fb very sparingly and only in a couple of closed groups. One you probably would not be accepted for, as it is the Yorkshire ex-workingboat owners club (Hudsons don't count ...... rivets or not ) The other is Barges small river tugs and workboats on Humber and is not really a forum for discussions generally but very much more an archival interest group with many ex bargemen, tug skippers and crew and family members with the occasional amateur with an interest or owner such as myself. It fulfills a particular interest niche and is a very rich source of historical information and an incredible picture collection
