To be fair, how else can they make information available.
Rather like the stoppage alert system, it requires the boater to make themselves accessible to the message.
I would also hope that C&RT staff would make referrals themselves in appropriate cases.

Virtually all the info should be provided through an initial call to CRT Customer Services if the system works as it was designed. Initial unlikely to provide all the details but should lead on to further calls either initiated by CRT (probably unlikely but that would be the ideal) or relevant info passed to the customer/vulnerable person and the vulnerable person has to make the next step.

I'm not at all sure what the C&RT 'Welfare' Officer's true function is, . . . he's been contacting me over the last few days by phone and e-mail acting as a go-between for Gauleiter Garner, who it seems, doesn't want anything more to do with me after I made it clear that he wouldn't be welcome on either my boat or my land.
Makes you wonder just whose 'welfare' he's concerned with ! Personally I've always taken the view that the role was created and he was appointed solely as a bit of window dressing to improve C&RT's chances of successfully promoting an image of a caring and benevolent charity.

I'm not at all sure what the C&RT 'Welfare' Officer's true function is, . . . I think for the moment his main function is to act as a mediator/facilitator (that should mean he doesn't take sides of the argument). Whilst far from a perfect situation it is better than nothing that went before...

To be honest with you Tony, after my interaction wth him recently I'm not sure of his real role, it does look like that appointing one welfare officer for the whole country is cart paying lip service to an issue that if they like it or not they have some duty of care to their customers.

From what I know of him, and his attempts to act as a go-between for Garner, . . . I would say that 'vacillator' is a more apt description !
