We will find out tomorrow if England will be fined for their response to NZ's haka ... utterly ridiculous in my view.
NZ receive preferential treatment by not only being allowed to do their little dance, but by teams not being allowed to make any kind of response.

Rog I think England should show respect for what you call NZ little dance. They have been performing it for along time. I’m all for tradition. What’s the problem with just watching and enjoying the spectacle?

I think England should show disrespect, then pay the fine. Good value for money when you look at the other options IMO.

I must be missing the point here then. I wouldn’t dis the haka anymore than I would boo when team anthems are being played/sung. Each to their own I guess.

I think you are ..... the Haka, traditional or not is an act aimed at making those who perform it appear as threatening as possible. Why should that be allowed when their opponents are not allowed to redress the balance ? Maybe the Scotland rugby team should turn and bare their buttocks at their opponents ..... after all is that not also traditional ? edit to add .... by the way I enjoy watching the Haka and would not wish it to stop

NZ have been performing their little dance since 1889(google tells me). Several other teams perform a similar pre match ritual as well. Oh well, doesn’t really matter as they are out now 😀

Oh well, doesn’t really matter as they are out now 😀 NZ Maori performed the haka from 1889 ... native peoples as part of their culture. The NZ All Blacks adopted it in the early 1900's but it wasn't turned into the choreographed marketing ploy it is today until the 1980's. Have you looked how few NZ maoris are in the NZ team ... not really a cultural thing. And I don't mind if they do it ... but let Ireland have BOTH their anthems too ... and let teams respond to the haka if it's a challenge. Rog

This was in the seventies ... watch and tell me todays version isn't just about selling stuff.
And the Tonga and Samoa teams are almost exclusively native peoples of that culture.
I'm only expressing my opinion ... I accept you and many won't agree, but just wanted to explain why I think the way I do.

All good in the end and the money goes to charity.

I would guess they deliberately crossed the line fully aware of all the positive consequences and how it would pan out including the theatre on the day, I can't see a negative aspect for England.

Cheers, yes I appreciate that they broke a rule and wasnt suggesting that they shouldnt be fined. I would have expected however that the level of the fine would have reflected the fact that NZ were actually impressed by the response, maybe it did? And it could have been a lot higher??

Ridiculous rule ... showing preferential treatment to one team over ALL others.
The world of rugby kow-towing to NZ is the reason no action was taken when they picked BOD up and brutally smashed him into the floor to put him out of the Lions series.
Anyway, moving on ... Wales have a very real opportunity on Friday to beat NZ for the first time since 1953 ... perhaps arguably a greater achievement for them than reaching the final.
Glad Rhys Patchell gets the start ... he's going to be a great stand off for Wales in the future, much more creative than Dan Biggar, but perhaps not as solid or reliable.
Could be a really good game on Friday ... hope the Wales boys can finally do it.
