It's about to kick off... No chance, I aint playing his games any longer. Its boring. But besides the suggestion I believe was seen in context by the person I responded to. That's good, you really have turned over a new leaf.

Have you tried the obvious and checked they are not going into your spam or junk folder? Oh! Goodness me! Thanks for that !! Silly me - but I'm really not quite that stupid - or obvious (unlike the new sock puppet which many of those I thought were my "mates" seem to lurve!). Seriously, though - thank you for bothering, Martin. It's obviously a CRT tech problem - already passed to their "webteam" apparently! Thank you met x I had similar from the Caravan Club last year. One dept.s emails would land in my inbox but another depts would land in a black hole somehere. It trasnpired that there was a single character error in my email address in second dept. Attributable to the fact that the email address was manually transposed accross, with an error.

Thanks, but ….
Can anyone explain why all the CRT crap gets through but I don't receive anything from their "stoppage" department?
I have unsubscribed, re-subscribed (they got me there as they know my one and only email address), shouted at the screen, got my hammers out....
Given up - there are hardly any winter stoppages, anyway - the whole Atherstone flight is closed for ONE lock (despite most of the others needing more attention), ditto Penkridge... then I hear so many are being deferred until next year ...

It does seem to be just the one email address in the system for “boaters update” and the stoppages. Maybe you should create a new free email address - gmail etc - and change your contact details to that one, then see if that works for stoppages. Edited to add - presumably you have checked that you have selected both the individual waterways you are interested in, AND the types of notices you want to receive?

I know, patty x
Shouldn't have said that - I don't even understand what "sock puppet" means!
I just dislike people taking the p - out of anyone, for anything, really - just one of those funny idiosyncrasies of mine.
As you were!

I am using one and the same email address for "boaters update" and stoppages. Yes, I have certainly "ticked the right boxes" on the stoppages selection bit - but NO I really don't want new/extra email addresses. I'll just have to rely on you lot or CRT chains to find I'm stuck! Thanks met x

daftoldbat@gmail.com
I once had misspinkfluffybunny@ but someone hijacked it so I abandoned it.
My squirrelnutkinlikespizza@ address also now gets an overdose of spam, so I just generally open it when I'm feeling lonely and the 500 people who are making me such generous offers makes me feel loved again.

Surely every lock represents a possible loss of water? Should they all be chained up? I'd like to see a lock which does not result in water moving downhill when a boat goes through it. I would like to see a lock that doesn't let water downhill when there is no boat.

I'm sorry, I have no idea who it could be. It may or may not be a C&RT problem. It is not unknown for mail servers to silently remove messages, particularly if they look "spammy", instead of putting them in your spam folder. In the past, I have had problems similar to yours but changing provider (e.g. from microsoft to google - ********@hotmail.com to *******@gmail.com) has invariably worked. Some providers allow you mark senders as "not spam". Nick's suggestion regarding gmail has merit.

This sort of thing has started happening ever since CRT fucked up with Toddbrook. Since that incident, which was wholly due to their incompetence as regards maintenance, they have started taking an ultra cautious approach. Here at Bollington, where the canal has been leaking for at least 5 years, they decided to put stop planks in a full 10 days before works were due to start. They arranged 'assisted passage' for a few hours yesterday. Expect the number of stoppages to go through the roof. With regard to stoppages "going through the roof", this old article might be of interest - www.thefloater.org/the-floater-october-2018/does-crt-board-know-the-real-number-of-emergency-closuresHaving made my point about C&RT seriously under reporting the number of days lost to unscheduled closures in recent years , I did not repeat the exercise for 2018/19. Suffice to say that C&RT has given its Key Performance Indicator (KPI) for 2018/19 as follows - № of days of unplanned closures to navigation within our control (individual instances over 48 hours) Target for 2018/19 - 450 Achieved 2018/19 - 649 Achieved 2017/18 - 490 I make that 44% worse than target and 40% worse than last year ... It is worth noting that the 649 lost days figure does not include 265 days lost to the Middlewich breech and 396 days lost due to insufficient water resources as C&RT consider these to be outside its control.
