I've been arranging weapons upgrades on the new frigate and wanted to have a raised switchboard fixed to the top lining in front of the helm in wheelhouse. For torpedo's, fog lamps, interior LED lamps and other items. Aim to have around 15 switches. Sort of like you get in aircraft.
I suddenly realised I could use square black drain pipe. Cheap as chips. Jigsaw for square holes and the switch holes I reamed to size with scissor blade.
Here's the MK1 version not yet finished. Plenty of space inside for the fuses and I will cut out square access holes behind. Ends to be reinforced with oak blocks internally to help make it more rigid.
Quite pleased with this
I'll label the switches with p-touch labeller I think that's the best approach although I do like Dyno embossed labels. They don't stick very well though.
I think it's more rigid than trunking and quite a lot cheaper. And shiny. £5.50 for 2.4m.
I will just cut out rectangular holes in the back for access. That bit will be hidden anyway once it's fitted. Easier to screw it to the lining without risk of it coming apart as it's all one piece.
It's also a decent size 65x65mm. This gives plenty of internal space for the wiring and crimp terminals etc.
There will be dual USB sockets and single Hella Din sockets at each end for auxiliary power options like phones and lamps. One main feed to the battery then bus bars to distribute the power to each item. The fog lights will be on relays.
Blue eagle eye LED lamps on the bottom shining downwards. And red filament bulbs in old fashioned clip on work lights for night lighting.
Wooden end plugs will have PIRs mounted on them so that when you move in one or other side of the wheelhouse it automatically switches on the red night lighting.
I particularly like switches. I am happy to be surrounded entirely by switches.

JohnV: There are other drugs but I haven't found the side effects with Ramipril to be bad, it seems to just make my throat a bit more sensitive so things that might have just tickled my throat and make me want to clear it now make me cough.

loddon: The cough is the only one I get from ramipril, although the combinatins of drugs I am on has interesting effects.
