You still haven't said what you do with all the waste from your composting toilet, kris - although when pressed once you did admit to finally carting it off to a CRT Elsan disposal point. I'm sure all that sawdust down the hole did wonders for the pipes.

It'll be somewhere in the archives of Thunderboat. You don't remember saying it, eh?

Bills asked: "6. Where can you empty it (legally)?" kris replied: "6. Crt's recommendation is down an elsan" This page: thunderboat.boards.net/thread/431/compost-loos-rock?page=2What I was looking for is not on that thread of 12 pages, but I am sure you have said you have chucked your compost loo down an Elsan hole - and twice. True or false?

Hmmm.... I have a good memory (as Martin acknowledged)... but it would take forever to trawl through every post on TB and I have Christmas cards to write. Where have you emptied your compost loo contents, then? I am sure the first two times you yourself admitted it wasn't quite to plan, somehow... I do know it just doesn't magically disappear but has to be removed with a shovel (or JCB!) from the outside toilets in Finland and... then I don't know what. I shall have to ask my work mates, as Pirkko says she doesn't know.

Hmmm.... I have a good memory
After a very very quick search here's 3 quotes from Kris categorically stating he doesn't & hasn't used a Elsan to dispose of his compost...There are many many more similar posts by Kris!
I know who I believe out of Kris and yourself, I also think maybe your memory isn't quite as good as you like to think, after, all its not the first time you've posted untruths / downright lies about various posters on here!
Carts current guide limes for disposal of composting, is to bag it and put it in the normal waste bins. So why wouldd anyone want to put t in an elsan?
The real benefits of having a compost loo are you don't have to use public toilets to keep from filling your cassette to quickly, so visitors can use your loo as long as you remind them to sit down and put some sawdust/etc in when finished. You will never have to go into a dirty smelly elsan point ever again, also your cruising pattern doesn't have to revolve around where the elsan points are. You didn't mention wether ycor planing to cruise your boat or are going to be on a mooring.
They are removing them to stop ALL boaters emptying their bogs. Its not just livaboards who need to do it. Its very community minded of you thinking about this kris what with you having a composting bog and no need of these facilities. Your right I don't use the elsan points, but I use the refuse disposal and water points, the showers are also most welcome as I don't have one onboard at the moment. I am community minded and see this as an attack on All boaters.

Its ok the MI6 girls are onto it. I wanted an excuse to talk crap with them it's a very effective way of chatting them up talking about boat related shit disposal techniques.
If there is any malfaisance here it will be exposed post haste.
I'm hoping to discuss this with Evangeline over a drink and some caviar on Wednesday evening somewhere nice.

Where does the sawdust come from and is this sustainable or is it simply encouraging deforestation and destroying hamsters natural habitat?

Teasing kris for collecting turds is one thing, accusing him of dropping them down an elsan disposal is another. I know he said he puts it in the bins, as allowed. It still uses fewer of the planet's resources than flushing with clean water. If I could I would have a compost loo at home, do the job proper, compost and use it on the veg. Anyway, naughtyfox, I've seen fox's doings, they stink and are full of the bones and fur of cuddly kind and harmless little animals, rabbits, voles, woodmice. It's a real shame they have banned hunting with hounds, they are very effective. @someboater have you inherited the family pack, if so you could be useful after all. TALLYHO!

We were never gentry and have not been anywhere near a hunt. Fortunately. Well they did used to come past the garden at one point but we did not engage with the vermin.
our dogs were lurchers so it was rabbits and squirrels not foxes.

It does seem to be mostly pushing the ecological side of it. Something about not wasting water. However when you live in Scotland, or England this past autumn, there doesnβt seem to be much shortage of water! Water not going into my toilet is just βwastedβ anyway, flowing down rivers to the sea. Obviously when we didnβt have proper sewage treatment plants and all the shit went into rivers and coastal waters, that was bad (although the fish probably liked it, in moderation!) but I think there is very little raw sewage discharge these days. Anyway, the best thing about flushing loos and sewage treatment plants if you live in near the Thames, is that you know that those fools who choose to live in London will shortly be drinking your recycled shit and piss! Gives me a warm feeling. On a practical note how does it work? When I sit down for a big one, I normally pee as well. Is the urine somehow separated from the solids at the point of excretion, all mixed up or something else?
