I'm not doing the survey, it's as bad, if not worse than CRT's slanted shit surveys. I've participated in the fft one.

It is definitely a worry but never mind the pikey-isation of inland waterways has been going on for some time now.
Nails and coffins come to mind for some reason..

Meanwhile in Scotland we have the right to roam on private land, thanks to the 2003 Scottish land reform act. One of the few good things the SNP have done.

To be fair I think this latest thing is about gatherings so unless you are part of some large group who tend to hang around in the same place I don't think it would have any effect.
Unless they were to include internet forums in the definition of "place".

We had Gypsies turn up at our boatyard in the car park, they quickly removed the gates and moved into the field beyond the car park, within days the place was a midden and nothing was safe at all next to the boats! The police tried to move them on but it took weeks, and only happened because they found a better sight in an empty factory unit near my business! We ended up sleeping there in the camperlance to keep our property safe! Sorry I thing the Gypsy population have brought this on themselves and its just the left wing guardian having a moan, anyone that has hada visitation from these thieving bastards will want their caravans burnt I suspect

As long as you have a liscence then you have paid to be there.

Without any doubt the proposed changes are a direct result of the well-publicised events of recent years. It is fairly clear that the laws as they stand are easily taken advantage of with little or no apparent consequence for the perpetrators. The outrage to public decency and the cost of dealing with the damage to public (and private) amenities is a familiar tale.
But the problem is that any law designed to inflict consequences on those in breach of the law can be transferred to any group or individual as the police force in question sees fit. The police tend to use the powers granted to them to the fullest extent simply because they can, and you could argue because they should, because they are public servants and take instruction from parliament.
If that bill is passed in its current form, bad things will happen. The 'Battle of the Beanfield' occurred mainly because a politician made a volatile speech in parliament about 'medieval brigands'. The speech occurred mainly as a result of inflammatory articles in the gutter press.

I don't like them either but the proposed solution is scary.

The shop, peoples chickens, anything that moved. Medieval Brigands was bang on. Small minority ok but the rest who travelled with them just thought it was funny.

The shop, peoples chickens, anything that moved. Medieval Brigands was bang on. Small minority ok but the rest who travelled with them just thought it was funny. I met enough of them to know that some were drug addicts who only cared about the next hit, and that more than a few were participating in the life simply because it gave them licence to operate outside of the law. But none of that excused police with their i.d numbers removed smashing up vehicles, beating up pregnant mothers and hospitalising many others under the cover of illegal anonymity. But they were different days when such things seemed to occur with regularity and not just to those living somewhere other than a council house. There are existing laws to deal with thieves and vandals, but not enough police to implement them, or jails to put the offenders into. A new law changes nothing about that.

Peterboat: I suspect, but I may be wrong, that you gave Bedruthan's post a 'like' because you misunderstood what he was saying. The survey Bedruthan DID NOT participate in is the tautological government survey where even if you disagree you end up agreeing anyway, which gives some insight into the mindset of those attempting to pass this bill. The survey Bedruthan DID participate in is the one organised by the 'Friends, Families, and Travellers' pressure group which at least has the luxury of freedom of speech.
