! ! ! Link has a virus attached. I suggest typing in to a browser 'letter to the uk guardian' to read the article. Which is what I have just done, and now I can read it without a continuous pop-up advert that fills the whole screen.

It will be interesting to see how things are going forward. For instance;
there have been moves to sell fruit and veg unpacked. At the moment I prefer to buy it in a external packaging which I can either wipe down or dispose of immediately.
All the bacterial wipes being used at the moment. Will disposal have a long term effect on the environment?
Environmentalists want us to get rid of cows and go veggie. If global travel reduces in the future I think I am right that a lot of the veggie ingredients come from a long way away.
What effect will all this reduced travel have on global warming? How long does it have to go on for it to have a positive effect?

Since you’re here... ... we’re asking readers, like you, to make a contribution in support of the Guardian’s open, independent journalism. blah blah blah

In English class, teacher asked little Millie if she could give an example of a sentence with the word contagious in it.
Little Millie gave it some thought, then replied. "When the neighbour across the road started to paint his house with a two inch brush, dad said it'd take that contagious."

what the hell do you expect them to do? just let the mob carry on with no restrictions?
Nowhere have I suggested that 'the mob', whoever and whatever that is, should be left to ''carry on with no restrictions'', . . .the words are entirely yours ! Try responding to what's actually been said instead of making daft comments grounded in your own special brand of warped thinking. nor did I suggest you did.
are you so unaware of the behaviour of a minority of 'don't give a damn' people who will ignore any advice until the police get involved? The TV news this week featured a bunch of youths (dare I say they were black?) in a park in London who were exercising together. When the TV interviewer asked them why they were ignoring the advice it was words to the effect of "I feel fine, nothing wrong with me, it doesn't apply to me, I'm fit innit?"
perhaps you can answer the question I raised: "what the hell do you expect them to do?"
I won't ask you to avoid making silly ill-informed judgements about others, 'cos I know you just can't help it. Asperger's?

"Britain's coronavirus death toll rocketed by 260 to 1,019 today"
Yet planes are still flying into Heathrow bring passengers from around the world. Including Helsinki which is infested with Covid-19.

Planes won't make much difference at this stage. The contagion is well in there so introducing a few hundred people who may or may not have it is small fry. A drop in the ocean.
The hirse has bolted.

The other way to look at it is, if this was a very serious virus (as in biological warfare), governments would have shut down all flights immediately. Well except for the ones escaping to private islands or to space capsules. .

So presumably the low levels caused a boat to roll over then take on water as the level rose again. Unless there is access for a crane to correct its orientation then the only way to get the boat floating is to get water under it. Shirley. That could be closed for ages ! ... or perhaps not. Notice now showing as "currently unavailable". Might just be updating it, though, I suppose.

who knows, coronavirus might shrivel up and go away.

It seems a bit rude to me. I missed it completely. I definitely would of awarded lollygagger a merit for it had I noticed the post but was probably too self absorbed in my own shit to even notice that anyone else existed
