Keep up with the news JohnV. If I didn't laugh I'd cry. Boris has changed his tune over the day from "Best ever" to "call an inquiry". I bet he's peeved because it's a distraction from his own important news. Priti has one foot on the plank. The walk begins. The media sharks are circling.

Some research reveals:
"Patelβs parents bought their way into Britain and as the daughter of Ugandan Indian immigrants she now delights in putting the boot into β immigrants! Patel called British workers βamong the worst idlersβ, quite ironic given that she has never had a proper job in her life and has been gifted a position in politics because of her ethnicity and the fact Boris Johnson will be enjoying a lot of βbusiness tripsβ with her! (better a boffing from a fat sweaty old Etonian than having to trudge round the House of Commons in your veeeery well paid role as a tobacco industry lobbyist/MP eh Priti?) A huge fan of the death sentence, because she knows if it ever did get into law it will be the poor feeling the rope whilst the rich and privileged buy their freedom. And porky Patel appears to have been overdoing the free food allowance (currently Β£100 a week on top of wages, expenses and benefits β βweβre all in this togetherβ, apparently!) or possibly she has a medical issue called βsmugness retentionβ. I detest this grubby arrogant little chav."

Permanently twisted gusset making her grumpy?

I shall hold my tongue now, and go and do some work that is calling to me... it's hard to see how Britain is going to get better any more... oh yes, I forgot! HS2! Get to Birmingham 20 minutes quicker - when the train isn't 20 minutes late.

If the train is 20 mins late, you have still got there 20 minutes quicker!

I'm priti sure that Priti Patel's garden was featured on "Ground Force" the BBC landscaping programme.

If the train is 20 mins late, you have still got there 20 minutes quicker! How does that work out? Say a normal train leaves at 1300 and arrives at 1430, the usual journey time being 1h30m. The HS2 should be there at 1410 if it were to leave at 1300. So if it were 20 minutes late you'd be there at 1430. The HS2, being 20 minutes late, has taken 1h30m to get from end to end. You may just as well have caught an ordinary train.

I'm priti sure that Priti Patel's garden was featured on "Ground Force" the BBC landscaping programme. What - they did her garden up for her at the licence payers' expense? "Alan Titchmarsh, Charlie Dimmock and Tommy Walsh go to the rescue of Dil Patel, to surprise his wife Priti, who is not happy about the state of their garden. The team decide to create a living arbour and a purple draped pavilion, and a year later, Tommy and Charlie find out how it's getting on." www.radiotimes.com/tv-programme/e/ggdk6/ground-force--30102008/

Well the normal train was also delayed by 20 mins - or - if the HS2 train took was capable of being there in 1 hr 10 mins but was delayed by 20 mins you would arrive in 1 hr 30 mins, however if the HS2 train was only capable of making the journry in 1 hr 30 mins and got delayed for 20 mins you would arrive in 1 hr 50 mins - 20 minutes later than the HS2 fast service, so 20 minutes slower/faster whichever way you look at it.

I was trying to keep things simple - the normal train was actually delayed by 40 mins due to ageing infrastructure and congestion on the line...

I think HS2 should be labelled 'The Gravy Train'. Consultants - ALL ABOARD!
