Ok, so it may have just hit the fan, doom and gloom everywhere, granted.
But let’s look at the positives ( I accept that not everyone is as fortunate as my family) (I have my hard hat on!)
*I’m with my two besties, husband & daughter. * We’re cooking like Masterchef. * the garden doesn’t know what has hit it. *Wayne got his hip replacement (finally) in January so is fully mobile and incredibly grateful. *If we survive this we can survive anything *We are making a conscious decision to support local businesses (after all they support us) *We’re talking to people we have not contacted in ages. * We are finding out who our friends are (and are not). The NHS are being recognised for the sterling job they do whether or not there is a crisis.
* We have a new tradition of the 6pm ‘stiff gin” in the Dyer family, please join us, the toast is: Everyone; (in no particular order) NHS workers, self isolators, care workers, essential workers, volunteers, checkers on neighbours, couriers, those of us not cluttering the beauty spots, volunteers, the lonely, the worried, the cash strapped (all of us?) the scared, the nervous, the sad,the unconcerned, all of us (if I’ve left out, please accept my apologies). The whole of my social circle and their social circle, slightly squiffy at 6pm everyday fills me with joy.. With apologies to those who avoid alcohol, please feel free to get high on life

I admire your positive outlook, well done and we'll be joining the toast at 6pm. We all know there are those less fortunate, having a tougher time and with more reason to worry, so I'll add a second toast to their peace of mind. Rog

Will substitute gin for beer, but will join in. We are much like the OP, counting our blessings. I do in more somber moments feel a tad guilty that I’m not suffering more. I am also well aware that hard times maybe just around the corner. Anyway, cheers all and enjoy what you can 🥂🍻

We are fortunate, a nice house, fairly big garden, pension still rolling in, plenty of hobbies. Jeff and I are always happy when together. My biggest catastrophe is that I can’t go gliding, which is what one calls a “first world problem”.
Compare to a friend of mine who is (was) a driving instructor - business on hold, no income, wife and 2 kids, private sector rent to pay, some trivial amount available from universal credit eventually. Government cash help for the self employed not available until June.

It's a bit late for him now, but what he should have done was what I did when I ran my own truck, set up a limited company which then employed me.

Like Jeff and you, we are locked away in a nice place, no money worries(yet) and fortunately our children fell lucky in their career choices, so far anyway! This lockdown can’t go on forever, someone in government will have to make a brave decision that may involve more deaths.Otherwise what’s left after lockdown won’t be worth living for. Anyway, I’m off to enjoy the warmer weather in our garden. Try and have a pleasant day all.

I agree the restrictions can't last long. Some have lost all their income and have no recourse to benefits, myself included. This group at least isn't going to sit around for months eating the bare essentials paid for out of their savings until they run out, followed by either starvation or more likely, crime. And some don't have any savings...

We live up in the Brecon hills, couldn't be much more isolated, so used to it. 20+ round trip into town.60 miles to nearest retail park. Can take the dogs out without ever meeting anyone. Retired with no financial worries,in fact actually saving money, so have made some financial donations. Just missing going to the boat. Very much counting our blessings. Have to confess I do think of others less fortunate than us and actually struggled to hold back a tear last night on hearing the news of the two nurses who lost their lives. It is a truly frightening time and I do wonder if the government really tell us the whole truth. My closet neighbour is the one from hell, he employs a 'handyman' on a cash in hand basis who normally works on a Friday but has been here all week. They foster children.Essential work??? Or just selfish, ignorant behaviour? Maybe at the end off all this we might all see changes in people for the better. To all of you, keep safe and well.

I used to trailer a boat to LLangorse lake and do a bit of pike fishing. Anywhere near you?

I'm very impressed with Tesco online shopping. Ive never done grocery shopping online before and my daughter predicted everything would be very close to sell by date or browning vegetables and bruised fruit...
Not so, my first order arrived today and everything was pristine, top condition. The young guy delivering strictly observed social distance. When I said this was the first time I'd shopped Tesco online he said with a broad smile "You'll be doing it again"
My 'slot' came up a week ago and Ive happlily added to it or taken off impulse orders right until midnight the day before delivery. For somebody who changes their mind quite a bit its perfect!
So another plus point in an otherwise horrid and uncertain time.

I'm ok ATM, have enough to live on, so glad I managed that amazing trip away..if there is no more at least I have the memories of that. I do appreciate how lucky i was. One son in the front line...one working at Amazon and the other no work ATM..he's just arrived here and can stay as long as nec rent free..suspect he will be off in a week or so as there is work offered..nec work....if not I'll add him to council tax. Daughter ok. We r all well and long may that last. Its all about getting through every day and not letting there grim get you down. The numbers dying are so very sad and we have not yet hit the worst.
