Interesting times for wildlife. Less humans doing things. Must have a fairly big effect on some of them. Coots still doing lots of sex and getting babies. No change there then. First lot I've seen this year

It's the coot chicks. 6 of them. This lead me down a slightly strange research based alley and I discovered that coots do not have penises like ducks. They do the reproduction thing via a cloacal kiss. Every day is a school day

With it being so quiet around here (well apart from when I get the angle grinder and welder out ) Ihave noticed an increase in wildlife wagtails both common and pied and a wren running round on the quay, a pair of robins have been inspecting a hulk next to me and a cormorant has been fishing in the river next to me

We've got wagtails about as well.
And "flicker" the cormorant named by my kids quite often rests drying his wings and crapping on my canoe which is nice.
Plus the coots and a moorhen looking around. Hoping the moorhen nests here as we are a bit short of moorhens and they are slightly more attractive than the overly aggressive coots.
Regular Canada geese and swan visitors as well.
And pigeons but I usually wave my gun at the pigeons as hate them.
We've had an Egyptian goose pair around as well but despite being quite pretty they also need shooting.

What am I looking at? Did you take this photo on a loaf on bread? Yes just cropped the image and quite surprised by the clarity given it's a shite mobile phone camera. Here you go pictures of both parents. free picture postingfree picture postingCoots are a bit bad but they know what they are doing. I was on a floating beer drinking platform at the time. Made of fibre reinforced plastic. No bread.
