Just found another reason why I need to get back to the drydock again, was talking to the owner and he tells me that the "Coquet Mouth" has an 8L3 main engine 24 litres and 900 rpm of engineering glory and as a special, on top of that, there is also a 2LW Gardner running a gen set !!!
I've got to be there when they fire her up ....... got to ....... (bet Kris will be drooling)

I know a lot of them where gen sets or pumps, but it just seem odd some how.

I like the L3 range as the numbers show the engine size. 8L3 8x3 =24 litre. Not sure why but the L2 doesn't work the same way as a 6L2 is 8.24 litres... I think a couple of members here have or had L3. Saltysplash aka arthurtwoshedsjackson had a 4L3 or was it a 5L3 in a MFV and I believe TonyDunkley might have an 8 in his Selby barge. Apparently they did a 3L3 but I don't know if there are any survivors. www.realdiesels.co.uk/gardnerdata.html

I don’t think it’s an 8 in Selby Micheal. But I’m sure Tony will be along to let us know.
