Dulcinea is a nice boat name yes.
I have not read any Tolkein or anything else as was put off reading books by being told to read David Copperfield and some bizarre prosaic stuff by another famous wordsmith when I was younger, at school. Never again.
Writing is a different story. I can do imaginary worlds to quite a complex level of detail and organisation.
Just haven't got myself a tripewriter yet !!

We saw what at the time were described as 'concept' boats at Braunston (having been launched there) in the early 2000's ... stainless steel, with plenty of it remaining exposed although one was painted green and the other blue ... Jane seems to think the blue one may have been named 'Tardis' but I honestly can't recall.
I think there were articles in the canal magazines and that the boats were sold through Braunston marina.
We did see the blue one several years later and were struck by how tatty it looked.
Can't recall much else ... maybe someone else can ?

I think those might have been aluminium boats. Were they outboard powered?
There were a few slightly odd small aluminium narrow beam boats with outboard set to one side around the time of the foot and mouth outbreak. I think it was an Australian thing.

Not that I recall ... they had a cruiser type stern with lots of stainless steel rails and tiller and attractive wooden decking.

East west narrow boats used stainless deck hardware but they were mild steel hull and superstructure. Made in china and completed in Ireland. The ones with no cabin tumblehome.
Yes it looks wrong and it might pick up bridges but the effect you get inside is amazing.
I would never own one but it's an interesting concept.
