Things must be grim in Hartlepool if the only glimmer of hope they have is a new lidl. Must admit that the only thing, that I know, of note in Hartlepool, is the HMS Trincomalee. That should be an essential visit for anyone interested in historic ships.

www.facebook.com/We-all-hate-LIDL-112300908786216/" Aldi and Lidl are rubbish For starters somebody in the house decided to save money on the turkey during Christmas and got an Aldi one. It was rolled it was soft and it was a funny colour. I put it in the bin and got a nice one in Tesco. I read posts on here now and again about people getting lovely stuff in Aldi with comments like yum yum. My opinion is that Aldi and Lidl food does not change much during it's passage through the human body. In fairness I am sure their food is safe but it tastes crap and has the texture of lumpy porridge. I am not a brand snob but cola has to be Coke and I hate cheap corn flakes." forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=893022

mirror.uncyc.org/wiki/Lidlwww.themadcatlady.com/30/08/2016/lidl-pet-blankets-warning-diabolical-quality/"I am not usually a Lidl shopper but popped in there today while I was waiting for my car to be serviced and I didn't think it was particularly cheap. Admittedly I only picked up a few bits and most things I looked at were branded. I did get Fruit Factory fruit stars and fruit strings for 99p each but you can often get these in the 99p shop anyway" "hi, well i have a Lidl just up the road from me and never use it, been in a few times and never see anything the branded things are often cheaper in poundshop or Home bargains" franklludwig.com/lidl.html

Fwiw, I used to live in Hartelpool - I bought a flat on what was the old gas works site (bakers mead)... I'm still listed on companies house as an exited director lol.
I went to a wedding held in the captains cabin on HMS Tricomolee followed by the bash in the function rooms constructed around the historic quay... There used to be a pub called Jacksons wharf (up some stairs) that was a favourite of mine... going back 15 years or so now though so it may well have closed down.
It's a bit of a rough little seaside town but it holds a fond place in my heart - the old headland being quite scenic in parts...Just down the road on the way back to the transporter bridge is the nuclear powerstation. The visitor centre is worth ten mins of your time.
