I don't know what prompted brummieboy's comments on politicians, but coming so soon after kris's petulant and somewhat revealing reaction to being taken to task on the nonsense he had put into post #1 of this - 'his' - thread, . . I thought them most apposite. It's quite remarkable how those who supposedly aspire to represent the interests of others - as MP's or Boater's Representatives on the C&RT Council, for instance - so frequently turn out to be petty minded bull-shitting hypocrites seeking no worthier goal than to further boost their already overgrown egos, . . and to promote their own questionable interests.

I think M.P.'s are a breed apart, whether male or female. I always look upon them in the sense of the satirical lines to The Red Flag. "The working class can kiss my a***, I've got the foreman's job at last." Whatever sex they are, they are nothing but virtue signalling zealots for whatever cause is in vogue. If they had to work in the real world, (very few have had proper jobs producing anything), they would be hopelessly out of their depth. This is illustrated by the number who 'make mistakes' in their claims and expenses for which they are very sorry. They are able to , and do, claim an amount for daily subsistence that exceeds the basic Old Age Pension. They are able to eat in a heavily subsidised restaurant, and you'll probably find that Parliament is the only workplace where you can purchase (heavily subsidised)alcohol. "They are all taking us to hell and using our money to pay for it – they are all as bad and whichever bunch of chancers con their way in nothing ever changes. I cannot go into enough detail about how much I hate, despise and detest these bastards, all of them. Briefly, on other news I turned on the BBC at about half six this morning – first thing was how black people are “8 times more likely to be stopped by the Police”. Stop committing so many fucking crimes then. "

If they're wearing certain brands of clothing, even better. The police will not randomly stop people, families out having lunch with their kids, grannies off to get their purple rinse done etc. etc. just to 'even things up'. Police intelligence is the very opposite of 'evening things up'. And so, the police will, or at least should, profile suspects and stop people accordingly. Yes, the BBC and other pathetic modern day social liberal organisations, which preach diversity when their own diversity is only skin deep, will continue to bleat about this.

I only meant to quote the bit about how detestable politicians are.. but the other bit came attached and I thought "so be it". If you can't laugh at flippant comments... it's probably because they are true??!!

There is a major flaw in their argument, Go around disguised as a silver haired old gimmer and you can get away with all sorts. Or go disguised as a god botherer. I once bought a Mercedes 406 van from a Rockin Vicar and his Christian PA company. On the back was a half metre dia Jesus Saves yellow smiley face, on the front a small Thank God For Jesus sticker. The vicar asked me to leave them on, I did and never regretted it. Saved my bacon a few times, eg once we left the Hacienda after watching Iggy, in the wee small hours. Empty road, police car coming towards us, did a u turn as soon as we passed, he then saw the jesus smiley, did a second u turn and carried on his merry way. I transferred the front window sticker to other vehicles too, it altered the attitude of the Dibble, they'd see it when checking out the tax disc.

What a waste of time and money the dredging at Barton island was. I wonder where all those dredgings are going to end up when the river really floods again this winter? Despite the recent dredging at Barton Island not meeting with your approval, the beneficial effect of it on water levels in the Trent at Barton Wharf (upriver from Barton Island) has been readily apparent following the recent rainfall. The question that needs answering is not what will happen to the sand and silt dumped on the Island - your misconceptions regarding that were dealt with on page 1 - but was the river X-section from the top end of the training wall to the low end of the island dredged to the correct profile, and how much of the ness at the low end of the long bight above the Island was taken out. Was the river level on the EA's Cranfleet or Beeston Gauges noted at the time your photo's were taken, and was any dipping done to check both the depth in the navigation channel and the extent of the works both up and downriver from the low end of the Barton Island training wall ?

"The UK already is bankrupt. Over 2,000,000,000,000 pounds National Debt, equivalent to over 30,000 pounds for every man, woman and child."
I'm not sure that the level of the River Trent is of national importance at the moment.

Is there an echo in here, or is it a stuck record?

Is there an echo in here, or is it a stuck record? No, . . it's neither of those, . . it's some questions related directly to what you posted to start this thread, . . and which you obviously want to avoid answering. Is it that you don't understand the questions, . . is it that you're embarrassed by the ill-informed assessment of the value of the dredging you made in post #1, . . or is it that you want to avoid the risk of further discussion of this subject exposing the truth about the real reasons behind your unnecessarily long stay off the river in the canal and away from your 'home mooring' ?
