" Letting their mates in quarantine-free: Backlash after Grant Shapps announces 'high-value' business travellers and sportsmen returning to England will be EXEMPT from self-isolation rules from Saturday, even if they come from a country on the 'Red List' " This drew a furious response from Labour, with Mr Shapps' shadow Jim McMahon saying: 'One rule for those they consider ''high-value'' and another for everybody else.' Labour MP Ben Bradshaw tweeted: 'Is this a joke? What Is high value? 'So the Government lets its rich mates in quarantine-free, while the rest of us trying to see our loved ones for Christmas have to quarantine for 5 days & then pay £150 for a test.' Grant Shapps - making money out of Covid - doesn't care if your granny dies. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9017625/Backlash-quarantine-exemption-high-value-business-travellers.html#comments Saw this yesterday. Nothing they do surprises me anymore. Complete bunch of tossers. Ruining my country and I’m angry about it.

I can understand why they've done it, a relatively small number of people are responsible for a large proportion of money creation. I don't mean printing it The government needs money. So, earn a decent amount of money with the risk of further spreading the virus being minimal due to the small number of people involved. On the flip side it's unfair and insensitive, probably to an extent that outweighs the benefit of the change.

Shapps is a moderately silly name.
However the most silly one is Lady Garden of Frognal.
That's a proper giggle.
As for the money thing it was pretty obvious that it would become relevant so I don't fully understand why anyone would view it as surprising that being wealthy would give you more travel rights than not being wealthy.
