I was just reading ONS figures that stated the average age of persons dying of covid remains over 80 years. We really should be doing all we can to protect the older generation and reduce some of the panic and hysteria being generated. Just for foxy, apparental 27,000 covid related penalty/fines have been issued ... mostly relating to large gatherings ... not so many in a population of 68 million. The 'police state' has a way to go before it becomes all embracing Rog

Worth googling the author ... a holocaust denier and conspiracy theorist ... obviously you're easily impressed by academic titles naughtyfox Rog I'd never heard of him so I Googled, and was quite surprised to discover that he has stood in county council elections as a candidate for the Green Party, and was an active member of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament and the Respect Party, surprised because I tend to think of these as being left-wing tendencies, and holocaust denial as being a right-wing view.

The 'police state' has a way to go before it becomes all embracing Rog Unfortunately there is a tendency to believe that, because it is very unlikely that an otherwise healthy younger person will suffer serious effects or die as a result of contracting covid, one way to tackle the virus is to shield the older and the vulnerable folk, and let everyone get on with their lives.
It has been made clear from the start that the restrictions are there principally to protect the NHS.
It is tragic to see so many folk who are seriously ill from something other than covid suffering months of pain and disability because the NHS cannot treat them at this time. In particular the stories of young folk, often mums and dads with young children, who have died from cancer because they could not be diagnosed and treated at an early stage.
Please spare a thought for everyone suffering because the NHS cannot undertake what is normally its routine business.

Rather than simply being 'overwhelmed by numbers' a lot of issues in the NHS have been caused by avoidance of risk.

You are arguing from a pedantic point of view - fair enough.
Do you believe things didn't happen roughly in line with the 'established' stories. Yes or no will suffice as an answer.
Ok. Let's say that at some point an organised regime arranges for seven million English people to be killed simply because they are English. You know, a genocide type thing. Will we be allowed to call this a holocaust or has the word been already taken? I've had a brief look and have found a reference to "holocaust" dating back to 1893 and referring to the death of one person. "On February 6, 1893, the governor of Texas, Jim Hogg, referred to the lynching of Henry Smith as a "terrible holocaust" and railed against mob violence in the state." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Smith_(lynching_victim)

Aha! I hadn't seen the News. Living my life in ignorance. This is what all the fuss is about, is it? " Wales aren’t even waiting until January, just announced all non-essential retail in Wales and close contact services like hairdressers and nail bars, leisure and fitness centres must close at the end of trading on Christmas Eve Also after the relaxation period for household mixing between 23-27 December, Wales will go into a level four lockdown on 28 December where "tighter restrictions for household mixing, staying at home, holiday accommodation and travel will apply". There is no end date...it will be reviewed after 3 weeks. If they are doing this route then it must last until at least February I think this decision significantly increases the risk of Christmas in Wales - People who are facing increased restrictions on Boxing Day onward are much more likely to take risks in the run up to that date. They have the chance to see family / friends for a last time for the foreseeable future and you have to expect they will take it. " "So the original Welsh lockdown was to ensure there are no further lockdowns, yet they are going down the lockdown route again? It's madness." So, all traffic into and out of Wales will stop, will it? How will they get Marmite? And South African red wine. And grapes? wow!
do you actually follow the news?
why don't you set up a blog and just repeat the bits of the news that you choose to cherry-pick?

I still don't know anyone who has died of Covid-19 and neither does anyone I know. Apart from the fact that any and all avenues of pleasure have been closed, my life and job continue as ever they have. The whole thing is a gigantic lie, and more and more people are waking up to it every day.

I understand the government have advised against people shopping on Boxing Day.
We're both working 3pm x 8pm ... if the shops are open some people will come for sure.
