Anyone else been through Grove Lock recently?
We came through today and can't believe what a poor state of repair it's in...only one ground paddle working, a good 2 inch gap at the bottom of the bottom gates that run up the gate a fair few feet and then there is about 8 holes half way up the bottom gates that just spout water through as your trying to fill the lock.
The leaks were so bad on the bottom gates it took forever to fill and took both Dave and someone off a hire boat waiting to move down the lock, to open the gates so I could get the boat out. As in, the two of them pushing on one gate to get it open, and it was all Dave could do to get the other gate open
I'll give CRT a call in the morning to report it. Just wondered if anyone knows now long it's been in that state.

I enjoyed a pint of London Pride from the adjacent bar whilst that lock was slowly filling earlier in the summer. It's a great facility. Ideally every lock should have one.

Mark99 Hi Mark, Really nice to see you here - I would never figured out that "jimcheese" was you Yeah, we've come through some locks which are in a pretty poor state, but it's the first one Dave's ever needed a hand to open a gate - glad I was on the tiller as I wouidn't have had any chance!

We are currently moored just below Slapton Lock Nice to see you here as well

What a disgusting mess. What kind of bonus is Richard Perry giving himself for this eyesore?

What a disgusting mess. What kind of bonus is Richard Perry giving himself for this eyesore? Personally, I couldn't give a monkey's armpit if they make it 'look pretty'; however, it would be most helpful if they (CRT) could get it to a state of working properly and repair some of the major leaks on the bottom gates & repair the ground paddle on that lock IMO of course
