If at some time in the future, however, you succeed in acquiring the ability to read and understand the plain written English in which the terms of both the 15 August 2019 Court Order and Section 8 of the BW Act of 1983 are laid down, then you might find that referring back to what I've said could be somewhat enlightening.

My boat was mentioned earlier so here's an update. I visited 3 yards. 2 suggested 25K the other 27. I thought that was a bit high but no harm in trying, it was supposed to be a seller's market. Anyway very little interest in the first 6 weeks so I dropped it to 25K. Still very little interest. A few had a look the most common feedback was it's too small (it was advertised as a 35ft boat, that's what it still is). Anyway 2 weeks ago a bloke offered 18K as seen. I refused, he upped it to 20, I accepted. I think 20 is a bit low for what was a boat that had been mostly looked after and upgraded, and was in good condition for its age. Having said that, it needed blacking, the bss is due in 3 months and the condition of the hull is unknown, as I bought it as seen myself. So, I think he has got a bit of a bargain but I'm happy enough, it's 2K more than I paid for it and I've now got a bit of cash in my pocket to move on with.

LOA - Length Overall

I think it was really a 35ft boat although I never measured it. Why might it be 32, any more than all the boats advertised at 57 ft being 54ft?

The bike extension thing changes its LOA. So actually 38ft?

Ah right it's less than that but it could be argued it's 36ft rather than 35ft. It was quite a neat rack, didn't stick out much.

Actually the pic you posted looked much better than I had imagined. Its not really your prob anymore but the boat is registered at a given length and the current owner will probably be invited to re-licence it at that length. But if anyone checks he could be in for a shock.

right attitude .... a boat is only worth what you can find someone to pay for it ..... something a lot of people forget The current narrowboat market has gone stupid. A friend is looking so I’ve seen a few recently and it is ridiculous. £30,000 seems to buy you very little boat, if you want a narrowboat. Oh well I suppose it will calm down again.

Oh well I suppose it will calm down again. I wonder if we could get £40,000 for ours ... Now that British people can't travel without vaccine passports and two 'Covid' tests before a flight, I reckon Brits will be looking to holiday more within the UK, and you can have a holiday on a narrowboat even when it's just going nowhere in a marina. Perhaps boat prices will skyrocket like the values of council houses did. Do I hear £50,000? You in the Harris Tweed jacket.... £55,000... gentleman with the rolled up newspaper... £60,000 lady in the corner... £179,000 - that'll do nicely! You could probably get 40K but it wouldn't mean anything. It's all printed, soon to be worthless, monopoly money.

They say money doesn't grow on trees but it does if you are an apple farmer.

You could probably get 40K but it wouldn't mean anything. It's all printed, soon to be worthless, monopoly money. a) you could be right, with "everybody will own nothing and be happy" - communism for the masses coming up, or b) I rather go with the view that the value of the £ will stay much the same for a few years, but that cash will be got rid of using this new 'social disapproval' tool - the psychological weapon that runs itself. Shop cashiers will tut-tut as you pull out your coins and notes, the automatic machines in shops will 'develop faults' and the cash option will not be working forcing you to flash your bank card, buses will be travel-card or mobile-app only. c) an 'arranged' war would get rid of house values pretty quickly - just bomb the lot and what have you got? -a pile of broken bricks which is worth ... a pile of broken bricks, just like what everyone else has got. -actually, house values mean little. Let's say Fred has a house value £400,000 and Joan has a house value £400,001. Joan is richer than Fred by £1. And has worked her whole life to achieve that. I predict more of the same. More and more money will be pumped in in a desperate attempt to save the failing status quo. House prices will go through the roof. The young (a favoured group amongst socialists- despite equality) will find it even more difficult to get on the so called housing ladder. A desperate government will throw even more money at this group in the hope that they can compete for houses but this, of course, will simply inflate house prices further.
