Hi All, I'm new to narrowboats (I don't even own one yet), but I have hankered after one for a while. Me and the missus have a short break on the L&L in a couple of weeks to see how things go. Ideally, we would both like to try live aboard, which is a big ask considering we are pretty new to it. I've read a few books, watched loads of youtube vids and more recently found this forum, through CWDF. No doubt, as we get nearer a purchase I will have all manner of daft questions, so please bare with me Looking forward to seeing the forum grow, I like the atmosphere in 'ere. Chas

Ooh, thanks for the tip, although I think being a nudist on the cut at this time of year might be a bit nipply nippy!
Thanks for the welcome!

Chas Welcome to the forum Chas, Don't worry about the daft questions, you wouldn't believe some of the ones I first asked when we were looking to buy our boat. In most part I received informative answers, and loads of different options along with some great banter. And with that info, I think we ended up buying the boat best suited to us & us to it as novice live aboards & CC'ers. Have a wonderful time on your break and good luck with looking for your boat B~

Yep, hiring a boat from Reedley, we pick the boat up last day of October, which is a Mondya and take it bake on the Friday. We were hoping to get to Skipton and back, but given the short days and our complete lack of experience we'll probably try for Gargrave and turn back there.

You'll enjoy it, the summit pound is stunning. There is a stoppage above Gargrave in early November at Stegneck lock ( don't know if that's spelt right and can't remember the date) ive just looked it up, it doesn't start until the 7th Nov so will not effect your plans. canalrivertrust.org.uk/notices/winter/#staticFiles In case you where wondering where I found out
